Moon Rabbit is a highly-regarded Vietnamese restaurant situated in the heart of Washington D.C., drawing inspiration from the virtuous rabbit depicted in the Buddhist Jataka tale. Led by acclaimed Chef Kevin Tien, the restaurant embodies an innovative approach to Vietnamese cuisine, showcasing a menu that is both unique and complex. Chef Tien's main objective is to pay tribute to his heritage as a first-generation Asian American, using Moon Rabbit as a platform for expressing his love for Vietnamese culture and food.

    Wonderful service with knowledgeable servers who were enthusiastic about each course. Four of us chose the chef’s selection and found it to be amazing, plenty of food, and served at a perfect pace for old friends who sought a unique dining experience and yet wanted time to visit with each other. The cocktails were a highlight as the ingredients and presentations were amazing. Highly recommend Moon Rabbit especially if you’re attending one of The Shakespeare Company’s performances as it’s about 2.5 blocks from the theatre.

    Our party of three had a marvelous dining experience. We all ordered the tasting menu, one vegetarian version and two featuring seafood and meat. Such unusual flavors, textures and colors. Drinks were terrific...unusual combinations, so fresh and interesting. Service was friendly and professional. Each dish was described as it was served. Clearly the team knows the ingredients and cooking methods. We had a wonderful 2 hour experience at this very innovative and accessible restaurant. The sound level was energetic, but it was possible to have a conversation without shouting. We had a lovely time and will definitely return in the future.

    Moon Rabbit is a stellar experience ce all the way around. The comfort of the rooms, the attentive service only serve to augment the excellent, highly inventive food. A must-visit, in my book.

    Moon Rabbit has become one of my favorite restaurants after this experience. Truly amazing food and drinks with great service! We will definitely be back.

    I read about Moon Rabbit in NYT and it did not disappointed! The ingredient combinations were unique and came together beautifully! Baked Squash with toasted seeds in spicy curry was memorable and the charred cabbage with pickled mushrooms was outstanding! The service, at first, seemed a little pretentious but our servers made us feel welcome and were really fun to work with. the Sharable’s, at first, were all coming out at once and really fast but we ignored the pace and took our time and enjoyed every bite, then things eventually slowed down to match. I don’t like to be rushed through a meal of 6 shared courses so maybe that’s just me. If you are into cocktails the menu is extremely diverse and popping with numerous well balanced blends. I look forward to coming back.

    The food is outstanding and the service is even better. While we had a designated server, who was very attentive, often our plates came out from the kitchen but served by someone else - each of which was very knowledgable about the dish as well as friendly and engaging. Even the 'front desk folk' had us at ease and laughing. It's obvious that the staff likes each other and that translates to their guests. Can't say enough positive things about our experience at Moon Rabbit.
