I had the special salmon with an orange and fennel sauce that was wonderful. The service and atmosphere were great. We’ll definitely return next time we visit Monterey.

We were last here for Valentine's Day, 2020 (just before Covid shutdown) and absolutely loved everything about the place. The drinks, the appetizer, entree, and dessert were 5/5. We raved that it was one of the best meals we ever had. Fast forward 4 years later and were looking forward to reliving that experience again with a group of friends. Instead, we found ourselves enjoying our food, but it just wasn't nearly as good as the first time. The menu has changed completely and we were looking forward to the shareable meat plate we missed out on last time, and the delicious white sardine appetizer we did get to enjoy last time. You may enjoy the food more if this is your first time going. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, just not great. And for that price point, I expect great

We tried the onion soup, miso pork belly, daily fish special entree (salmon), scallop entree and Tahitian vanilla crème brûlée — the flavors were excellent. The crème brûlée consistency was a little bit watery, but the flavor was very nice. Service was very good and they kept our water glasses filled without asking!!!

The duck breast served with wild mushroom was very good although I got two small slices of duck. Mine was $38 My husband had a pasta dish with a sausage tomato sauce that was fair, nothing special, for $36. Very expensive for what it was. We also got a side of Brussels sprouts that was really good for $14 That was probably my favorite dish. The food was hit or miss. We thought it was too expensive for the overall experience. Our server was nice, but not as professional as the ambiance suggested.

On a Wednesday, it was totally quiet. It was great! French onion soup was very filling and done to perfection! House salad way good (❤️ pistachios and the dressing!) we both had pumpkin creme brulee which was different. The sweetness is relative, with one person saying too sweet, but I thought it fine, and with arugula, baby beats and duck prosciutto (kind of gamy to me), that could be a light meal in itself! I drank a couple of “Passionate Life” mocktails and I highly recomment it to those who can’t drink alcohol but want something fun and refreshing. Perfect service! Thanks!

We love this place. The cocktails are wonderful. Miso pork belly was excellent. I may have had the best cioppino ever, and my wife loved the scallops. Having said that, our server was fantastic! It was a special occasion dinner - and a special occasion experience, too.

We had a lovely dinner here a few years ago and wanted to try again. It was clearly worth coming back! The food was great and the server was very nice and attentive without being too present. We will return.

We had a wonderful experience at Montrio! The food is amazing and the staff (wait staff, busboys, manager, etc) were all so gracious and accommodating. Their sole goal (as they kept saying) is to ensure we have a very positive experience and that we are "happy"! I ordered duck breast which was great. The Montrio salad was tasty and refreshing. My husband had the onion soup gratin which was excellent. His entree was the roast chicken which turned out not to be so great--sauce was too salty. They quickly offered to bring him another entree; he picked short ribs. They were delicious and perfectly cooked. The manager presented a complimentary wine of glass which he said paired perfectly with the short ribs. The manager was personable, friendly and informative. All in all, in spite of the dear prices, we would go back in a heartbeat the next time we're in the area.
