Great location. Beautifully decorated and great style. Food is expensive and so are drinks. The house old fashioned is on tap and does not even come with cherry ot orange slice. Limited wines by glass and mostly Italian. The “speakeasy” was a disappointment and zero vibe. Basically a bar in a basement. Probably would not go back for dinner. Everything is a la carte and the sides are basic and shareable but just eh. The best thing we ordered was the meatball app and they were excellent. The wedge was good/unique and crisp but the green goddess dressing was overpowering and not a good accompanimentt. It literally ruined the wedge to the point I could not eat. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the house sauce was delicious and tasty. The mushroom side was wonderful and enough for four to share. We sat at the bar and Logan was wonderful and helpful even though they were slammed. I got the feeling from his colleagues that maybe he wasn’t moving fast enough but he was calm and collected. I saw several espresso martinis being served BUT not topped with the 3 whole beans which is a major faux pas in my book.

First time at Monk’s. I was there to kick off a week at a trade show with a top customer. The food selection was great(pork chops) and our wait staff did an amazing job of catering to our needs while allowing us to enjoy our conversations. 10/10 would recommend and will add to the list of restaurants in Louisville to revisit!

Overall experience was a positive one, but did have a couple of tables near us that were extremely loud and distracting. This is out of the restaurants control but based on many other reviews saying they had a similar experience of a very loud environment it makes me think the space being so closed in causes the loud environment. Was very hard to enjoy the date night when we couldn’t hear each other talking unfortunately.

Do not sleep on this place. Menu is fabulous. Every pasta we tried was so fresh and light. Steaks were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Love the mushrooms and creamed corn sides.

Great vibe. Solid food. Excellent service. Only drawback was the noise, difficult to really carry a conversation.

The restaurant was great. The food was seasoned well. Loved the end of summer salad absolutely DELICIOUS. Calamari is perfect, and my pasta dish was perfect. I was impressed with how they renovated the space from the previous restaurant. We will be back soon!

I loved my first experience at monks but visit 2 was not so great. I ordered the cavatelli and have a mushroom allergy- was informed as it arrived it had porcinis cooked into the cavatelli. not at all what I expected and nowhere does it list that in menu! I had to swap with my husband for his steak. The food was ok - not worth the pricing given the appearance and lack of flavor. The server also charged two of my friends $2 for a cube of ice - the server didn’t even ask if they wanted a big cube versus rocks. I think they would have opted for the free ice rather than pay $2 for a frozen cube of ice. Hidden prices and ingredients that people are allergic to made me go from YES to a bit NO on Monk’s.
