With its vaulted ceilings, impressive wine wall and striking open-kitchen, The Monkey Island Brasserie in Bray is the perfect setting for a long lunch, quintessentially English Afternoon Tea or an exquisite dinner.

Afternoon Tea may be enjoyed here or in an entrancing setting with a famous Renaissance ceiling. Cocktails and drinks are served in front of the welcoming fireplace in the stylish bar.

Classic French doors lead out to the picturesque terrace where guests can enjoy outdoor dining whilst admiring the idyllic views of the River Thames.

Please note, dogs are not allow in The Restaurant and Island.

We were a party of 6 celebrating my mother's 80th birthday. The service was low key but professional, the food was very good. We had one dietary restriction (gluten intolerance) and they were very good at checking menu choices, even stepping in to point out issues with a menu item that didn't appear to be a problem but actually was. I had chicken ballotine, which was good but 3 people had the duck and raved about it, especially the accompanying vegetables. If you like a light starter, I had the tomato salad and it was excellent. The gooseberry fool was quite tart, which I like but my husband has a sweet tooth and regretted not choosing the banana and hazelnut parfait! My mother had specifically requested a good view of the river and the restaurant gave us a choice of two tables. We chose the corner nearest the river and my mother was very happy with her view. She got her own special birthday plate with truffles, which was a nice touch. Overall, I was very pleased I chose Monkey Island for such a special occasion. One thing, it wasn't immediately clear where to go to be seated. We eventually headed for the bar, so I would suggest going there first.

A lovely evening in a beautiful setting. Food was delicious. The service and staff were great. The toilets in the restaurant were out of order which meant you had to to leave the restaurant but no big deal, just inconvenient.

Beautiful grounds, attentive & friendly staff, the sandwiches were full & delicious, the scones could have been warmer. Cakes were also delicious. It was my aunts birthday & she was delighted to receive a little cake & decorated plate with chocolate flowers. I would highly recommend Monkey Island & will be booking dinner for my partner’s birthday in July.

A beautiful setting with an amazing view of the river. Food was delicious and service was friendly and not intrusive. Prices are good and the menu has choice for everyone.

A great meal in a beautiful location - only reason we rated as 4 and not 5 was slightly slow service and overcooked sides. Overall a great Father’s Day lunch
