    Mediocre and overpriced. Food served warm not hot. Charge for bread which I have never experienced in the finest Italian restaurants.

    Perhaps it was an off day. Reservation for 4 o'clock (when they open) we arrive five minutes early, but were completely ignored: no greeting whatsoever, not even an acknowledgement from staff. I finally say "Hi, we have a reservation at 4:00" the waitress confirms my name and asks where we would like to sit. Problem is, she did not read our comments when we booked and had no clue what we were celebrating. No one else did. When our waiter showed up and explained the two options for the cheese wheel pasta, neither were appetizing: one sounded like it would be too salty to enjoy (anchovies, capers, parmesano) the other had zucchini and "ham" (ham as in ... what? From where? Any substitutions? No explanation or clarification. Are we settling on a $30 pasta dish staring ham? Why not a simple caccio e pepe? That was not an option). We finished our Pellegrino (got charged $7 for it) and left. Location is great. Ambiance is good. Music was too loud for a relaxing anniversary dinner. It just was not what we had in mind for our special night.

    Exceptional service from the servers, delicious food, only complaint would be the carbonara pasta was a little tough and could have used more sauce but was nonetheless delicious

    We found this as a highly rated cheese wheel restaurant for Italian food online in San Diego. As a group visiting from Boston we ended up really enjoying this as a last night special dinner spot. Neither of the group ended up with the cheese wheel pastas but the entrees we did get were amazing and the service was so tentative and fast. Highly suggest!

    Service was excellent! My sisters lasagna excellent! Unfortunately I had the spaghetti alla carbonara and I got sick. Maybe the egg sauce was not cooked enough or the dish was too rich, either way I was disappointed.

    We had a great time dining for lunch during the weekend here. We had 5 kids (plus double stroller) and Felicia was more than accommodating! Felicia and staff were very helpful and my kids loved watching & tasting the cheese wheel dishes! F - friendliness: all staff were friendly & I feel Felicia went out of her way to make my family feel comfortable. A - ambience: clean and spacious R - return: we would definitely return when we come back in town. T - taste: food was delicious and watching the cheese wheel dishes being prepared while getting a history of it was very nice.

    SUPERB!! We’ve eaten A LOT in Little Italy, so we don’t know why it took us so long to find our way to Monello. Probably the best ragu I’ve eaten, and husband raved about the shrimp ravioli. They make their own pasta. Need I say more? The pasta’s to die for. Good service, nice ambience, not over-priced. This will quickly become one of our go-to places.
