Mona Lisa Mare e Monti , in San Francisco, serves classic Italian dishes crafted with top-quality local and seasonal produce in its charming and welcoming eatery. Mare e Monti is located in the Heart of North Beach's Little Italy. Our Restaurant specializes in Authentic Italian Seafood and Steaks. We also offer a variety of different cuts of Pasta's, which are created in house everyday! We are best known for our Bistecca Fiorentina, which is a 24oz porterhouse steak. Our Seafood is brought to use daily by our local Fishermen. Some of our most popular seafood dishes are our Zuppa Di Pesce or our Whole Dungeness Crab plate. We just love the Mona Lisa Restaurants in North Beach! From the original one across the street bringing food like your grandma made it to the elevated experience at Mare e Monti, these restaurants from its very active owner on down are just fantastic. We love to go there and can't wait to go back, to either one of them!

It took me awhile to decide whether or not to go to this restaurant for our New Year's Eve dinner. While I read the food is excellent, I kept reading the service was very slow and also read comments about the lines to the restrooms. We decided to go ahead and make a reservation. We walked in and declined the first place they wanted to seat us because it was right by the door. Being that it was cold outside, we did not want to feel the cold air every time someone entered or left the restaurant and we did not want to take the chance of people gathering next to our table as they waited to be seated. The other option was the table right by the bar, right by the restroom and right by where the utensils were kept. We had no other choice and ended up being in the traffic of all the waiters rushing back and forth to serve everyone and we had people lining up for the bathroom and literally standing with their rear ends right next to our table. We even had one lady throwing her hair back right over our table where we were eating. It took more than half an hour for us to get our bread. As for the food, my gnocchi in a truffle sauce was the best gnocchi I have ever had. The orange tiramisu was absolutely delicious. If you go, stick to the pasta dishes. That is where they thrive. The filet mignon was chewy despite one being ordered medium and the other being ordered medium rare. I am glad we tried the restaurant. I feel they were understaffed and it showed as everything was chaotic and rushed. Our waiter, Marco, was fantastic.

Amazing all around! Authentic Italian from food to service! They make you feel at home and yet a first class customer at the same time. A must visit if in the bay area! We can't wait to return already!

This is our second year celebrating our wedding anniversary at this place. Food is always good. Simple dishes elevated and done right. My only complain is our main entree took close to an hour. Good thing we ordered a couple of appetizers and we were taking our time, but an hour wait is a little excessive. This is. it the first time this had happened either. I do commend the servers for checking on us and the hour wait seem less.

I was treated like a Queen at Mona Lisa Mare e Monti tonight for my Birthday dinner. Giovanni, the waiter, provided the most excellent service; so friendly and professional. And the food! So fresh and delicious, and with such beautiful presentation. This is my favorite special occasion restaurant in North Beach!
