Le Momotaro, petit dernier du Boka Restaurant Group, est un restaurant japonais multi-dimensionnel situé à West Loop. Géré par son chef exécutif Mark Hellyar, le Momotaro a récemment été élu Restaurant de l'année par le Chicago Magazine et le Chicago Social. Conçu par le décorateur mondialement célèbre AvroKO, le restaurant possède également un izakaya au sous-sol ainsi qu'un élégant espace privé au deuxième étage qui surplombe la salle à manger principale. Très éclectique, son menu de 90 plats propose notamment du riz, des nouilles, des spécialités au hibachi, des plats froids et chauds, ainsi qu'un large choix de sushis et de sashimis. Great experience! Out server Calvin had great recommendations for dinner (spaghetti with the skirt steak skewers - yum!). Would definitely go back.

Loud background music in the dining room made conversation difficult. The food was very good; some dishes were exceptional. Wait staff were gracious and not intrusive.

Second time coming to this place and again, great experience. My waitress, Kazoomi, was amazing with her food recommendations as well as her continuous care.

The entire Momotaro team and experience was wonderful from the moment we walked in. It was not our first experience dining here, and the delicious, adventurous, and palette pleasing food has somewhat become table stakes; however, it's the service from the staff from the moment we walked in that continues to differentiate how we feel leaving this place compared to other restaurants. We were greeted by every staff member on our way to and from our table; we were celebrating two birthdays, and the staff that wasn't even serving us was saying, "happy birthday" as we were leaving! We had the pleasure of being taken care of for the duration of our meal with Calvin, who guided our decision making on every dish, and did not steer us wrong. Calvin knows the menu front to back, and takes the time to understand the customer and their palette, and caters their experience accordingly. And although the quality of dishes can always be counted on, by no means is there a lack of flavorful surprises...from shockingly delicious vegetable starters and consistent, quality rolls, to insane dessert combinations (like match chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream...) we were so thrilled to be spending another evening enjoying the Momotaro EXPERIENCE.

The place was vibrant and the music was nice. Joann my waiter was very helpful with the food suggestions. Would definitely recommend for either group or even alone

This wasn’t my first time at Momotaro but it was my wife’s. I surprised her with this visit to celebrate our anniversary. Here’s the TL;DR: the people here are wonderful - Martez took great care of us; the food was inventive and exciting, and used very high quality ingredients; cocktails might have been the best part, they were stellar and the bartenders downstairs know their stuff; ambience was on point upstairs and downstairs. We had a wonderful evening and would gladly return any time. A few notes about the details that would have made it 5 stars. -in the reservation, I explained in detail what we were celebrating and that it was a surprise for my wife. I even shared the very specific detail that we had met on this exact date several years ago. When we walked in and told the host my name, he checked his reservations and his first question was something to the effect of “what brings you in, are you celebrating something?” Not a huge deal, but it seemed like low-hanging fruit. Information that gives you an advantage in hospitality should never be wasted. After we had a cocktail downstairs while waiting for our table to be ready, we came back up and other staff members were waiting for us with personalized menus and congratulations (the menus were printed fresh for us with anniversary wishes at the top). Wonderful recovery. -also in the reservation, I shared my wife’s allergies. When our server Martez introduced himself, his first question was, “any allergies we should know about?” I want to be clear that I’m not angered by either of these minor misses. But again, if you have an advantage of information and don’t use it, it’s a missed opportunity. Also worth repeating, Martez took excellent care of us. -wobbly table. Not much more to add. It’s just annoying. -not so much a detail but comments on the menu: the dry-aged tuna was otherworldly (omg wow) and the spaghetti dish was inedible for us. It tasted like hot mayonnaise and we couldn’t do it. Not to our taste.
