Le Momotaro, petit dernier du Boka Restaurant Group, est un restaurant japonais multi-dimensionnel situé à West Loop. Géré par son chef exécutif Mark Hellyar, le Momotaro a récemment été élu Restaurant de l'année par le Chicago Magazine et le Chicago Social. Conçu par le décorateur mondialement célèbre AvroKO, le restaurant possède également un izakaya au sous-sol ainsi qu'un élégant espace privé au deuxième étage qui surplombe la salle à manger principale. Très éclectique, son menu de 90 plats propose notamment du riz, des nouilles, des spécialités au hibachi, des plats froids et chauds, ainsi qu'un large choix de sushis et de sashimis. Si vous n'arrivez pas à réserver à l'heure qui vous convient, la plupart des tables de l'izikaya fonctionnent sur la base du premier arrivé, premier servi, et le restaurant accepte les clients sans réservation !

Decided to make reservations same day and was able to do early dinner. Service was good; table was ready, staff was knowledgeable of the menu, our table was cleared multiple times, and our water glasses were always full. Food came out fast and everything was delicious. My only complaint about the food would be the cold yellowtail appetizer had a bit too much red so it tasted a bit too “fishy”. Everything else was delicious. Ordered sushi which was very fresh. The lamb chops were amazing. The mixed drinks were very good as well. The restaurant was full but still quiet enough to have a conversation with no issues. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Not sure what happened here but we received probably the worst service I’ve experienced at a high end dining restaurant in my ~4 years in Chicago. Our server was consistently behind from start to finish, even with a plethora of staff out on the floor. Especially awkward moments included waiting ~10 minutes to get soy sauce for our nigiri, considering walking across the dining room to the ice bucket our wine bottle was chilling in to refill our own empty glasses and finally having to send back another wine bottle that took 30 minutes to come out (after dinner plates were cleared). What appeared to be a manager came by and cleared the empty wine glasses but did not bother to check in on how things were going or why we sent the bottle back. Overall frustrating experience - especially considering we were celebrating a birthday. Would not recommend.

Waited 30 mins for a cocktail, and then 40 mins for a bottle of wine. Food was good though.

I had an overall great experience! The staff was very accommodating. I initially booked a bar spot because of availability on open table. However they were able to get me a table upon my arrival. The server was very attentive and accommodating and explained the menu since it was our first time which made it very helpful in ordering. The octopus appetizer that I ordered was amazing and Ii would highly recommend👌🏾. My partner raved about the sushi and is already planning our return visit. Even through we had a late dinner, they never made us feel rushed. 5 Stars!

Excellent nigiri sampler. Also had a few other items including light and fresh tomago and buttery, delicious otoro. Great service. Nice sake list. Highly recommend!
