Le Momotaro, petit dernier du Boka Restaurant Group, est un restaurant japonais multi-dimensionnel situé à West Loop. Géré par son chef exécutif Mark Hellyar, le Momotaro a récemment été élu Restaurant de l'année par le Chicago Magazine et le Chicago Social. Conçu par le décorateur mondialement célèbre AvroKO, le restaurant possède également un izakaya au sous-sol ainsi qu'un élégant espace privé au deuxième étage qui surplombe la salle à manger principale. Très éclectique, son menu de 90 plats propose notamment du riz, des nouilles, des spécialités au hibachi, des plats froids et chauds, ainsi qu'un large choix de sushis et de sashimis. Si vous n'arrivez pas à réserver à l'heure qui vous convient, la plupart des tables de l'izikaya fonctionnent sur la base du premier arrivé, premier servi, et le restaurant accepte les clients sans réservation !

We went for our anniversary dinner. The staff was nice and wished us a happy anniversary. Our waiter gave us some recommendations which we enjoyed very much. The food was delicious. They also gave us a drink and dessert on the house. It made our day feel even more special.

The food was good, service excellent, decor pleasant. Music was like at a disco, cranked so loud it was impossible to converse without shouting, so everyone shouted. Prices were way, way high. Was hoping for a graceful dinner, maybe a bit more zen like. But this is clearly not the place for that. Based on reviews, I expected a lot better. Really disappointed.

Momotaro never fails to deliver. Food is always excellent as is the service. Pace is appropriate and water is always filled. Came for a 21st Birthday (they personalized the birthday girl’s menu) and per usual for similar celebrations they don’t forget to make memorable. The best Japanese food in the city…we come back again and again. Thanks and see you soon.

A special place with great creative food, a lovely atmosphere, and solid service. We sat upstairs which was intimate and quieter than the downstairs space. Our delicious meal included outstanding dishes Zucchini Danegaku and Miso Banoffee. Servings were on the small side, making it pricey. There were a few items they didn’t have - like Prosecco - which was disappointing . Momotaro is still my favorite restaurant for special occasions. Savor the food and the experience.

Sad to have to leave such a negative review when the food itself was quite delicious. But our server was so increasingly rude to our group throughout our meal that I'm compelled to share our experience. At first we tried to make excuses on behalf of our short tempered server, maybe it was just his personality, but by the end of the meal it was impossible to ignore how pleasant he was with the table next to us while treating us like pariahs. By the end he threw our check into the middle of the table without asking if we were finished, then yelled 'just put it down!' when we tried to hand him the payment. We never asked for anything special, no complicated requests, never brushed him off.. we didn't send anything back, we were polite, said thank you, etc. Our whole table spent the night trying to figure out what we could have accidentally done to justify what we all agree was the rudest service we have ever had, let alone at a high end restaurant, rather than enjoying the incredible meal. And the manager couldn't have cared less either. Soured the evening and made the delicious food forgettable. Super unfortunate. We won't be back, and won't be recommending it to anyone ever again!

The food was excellent! Service was attentive but not overly so. The bar seemed a bit in the weeds during our visit, as drinks were slow to arrive, but everything tasted wonderful. When we return, I think I’ll request different seating or wait until a table at the perimeter is available. We were seated in a high-traffic and very high volume spot, so while everything we had was wonderful, my husband and I could not hear one another at all.
