We were off to the theatre and wanted sushi beforehand. Right across the street / was able to make same evening reservation. Sushi was so delicious!

Our charred brussels sprouts starter was outstanding, as was the carrot cake we shared for dessert. For mains we shared the tuna oshi and salmon oshi; these were very good. Excellent service and recommendations from staff when asked. The semi-circular booth seating was comfortable.

I went to Minami in October 2022 and had a great experience. I just went back again in July 2024 and it was totally different. First off the food to price value was really below what I expected. Ended up paying $280 after tax and tip for two people for a dinner meal and we both left hungry. The portions were SMALL for the price. The nigiri and oshi were both overpriced for the small amount of fish in the meal. The sake also was really overpriced with no lower priced options on the menu. We ended up going with a $60 1/2L and it was okay. Generally we weren’t very pleased with the dinning experience for how much we paid.

Thank you for your review. I'm disappointed to hear you weren't satisfied with your return experience. Our pricing, however is relatively unchanged since your visit two years ago. We served a 6 piece oshi back then and now we serve a 4 with a similar price per piece. The increase, influenced by inflation and rising wages and costs is about $.25 per oshi. In our most recent menu we lowered the price of our tasting menu, implemented new happy hour deals and a bin end wine sale on Sundays. With that being said, I can understand that your experience didn't match expectations, and it's up to our team to match the menu and offerings with the guest expectations. If you are able to provide the name from the reservation I can look into this matter in more depth. Nicholas

I shall certainly return. The ambiance was incredibly cozy and exquisite. My partner and I have been diligently working for the past few months, hence the serene atmosphere was greatly valued. The cuisine was exceptional, and our server was truly delightful. Many thanks to the Minami team for a wonderful experience.

Everything about our experience was amazing. From the friendliness of the staff to the recommendations for our entrees (trust me – the short rib is MONEY) and the lovely atmosphere. We went as a girls evening with two adults and my eleven-year-old niece who loved the sushi that was recommended. Perfect location for our dinner as we had theatre tickets for that night. There is no question that we will be returning. Thank you for a great start to our evening. 😊

I ordered a sushi roll. It was fishy. The server replaced it with shrimp. That was iffy. Initially, I was charged for both, then for neither. then commotion. Now excuses: new chef; manager was supposed to ...; I'm not sure... Too much drama, food was only ok. Go back = never.

We were celebrating a family achievement...and what a celebration...of the senses! Minami Toronto takes the Miku experience we've previously enjoyed to a next level. Service: impeccable, attentive and overwhelmingly knowledgeable. Cocktails: each and every one was imaginative and delicious. Sharing dishes: all great, but standouts were sturgeon Caviar, salmon Crudo, sautéed wild mushrooms Entrees: Miso baked sablefish was melt-in-your-mouth perfection! Sushis/Sashimis: ordered several and ALL were amazing - make sure to order at least one torched (Aburi) selection Desserts: stand out was the coconut strawberry pie - hard to believe it was vegan! Clearly, we'll be back!
