Set at the end of a tranquil tidal creek on the Salcombe estuary, the Millbrook Inn is a hidden haven for those who enjoy good food, great wine and a pint of local ale.

The Millbrook Inn has a long-standing reputation as one of Devon's best gastro pubs. We take great care to source the finest local ingredients from land and sea, including from our own farm, and we prepare them simply and with love.

Our home - the idyllic village of South Pool – is easy to reach from Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes. When the tide is right, it’s only a short boat trip from Salcombe.

Whether by our homely fire or our babbling brook, we look forward to welcoming you to the Millbrook Inn very soon.

Fabulous food , not cheap but top quality locally sourced ingredients very well used. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Only issue on the night was the proximity of a very loud table of 6 whos braying voices made polite family discussions / conversations impossible. Restaurant deserves to do well

We have been coming to the Millbrook Inn for many years and seen many chefs change hands. Our latest visit was a disappointment. Sunday's roast was bland and mushy. The pork belly had no skill in its cookery. Our friend left huge slabs of unrendered fat on the side of his plate. I treated myself to half a lobster for £15 extra. Whilst the lobster wasn't bad, the five jersey royals on the side with a tiny pinch of dressed salad was underwhelming- no sauce to join the lobster and the potatoes which were supposed to be hot smoked but weren't. We enjoy the location and the ambience of the Millbrook Inn but sadly food was not up to scratch.

We had beenso looking forward to our meal at the Millbrook, as the last time we went - admittedly a few years ago - it was buzzy, full of locals and with an interesting menu, charming manager/owner and delightful local waitress. This time the place was dead, just three other punters in the new upstairs restaurant, completely devoid of atmosphere. The menu was ridiculous and we wish now we'd just left before ordering. The special options were a tomahawk steak to share at £110. a fish to share - possibly turbot - at £105 and another equally overpriced meal. On the printed menus the cheapest option was £28 - this in an area where the average salary is £22k! We ordered the only options that appealed - a dressed crab to start with and to share at £18 and red mullet at £32. The crab tasted funny and was I think not fresh. The red mullet arrived with a small helping of samphire, that didn't taste or look like samphire and bearnaise sauce, which was the sauce offered with everything. The portion of fish was extremely small. The wine list was also very expensive. Our meal was done and dusted in 40 minutes flat and our bill £96!!!!!! We eat out a lot in London and Sussex so are used to expensive meals, but this one really took the biscuit. We will not return.

Immaculate presentation of bar areas and restauarant. Welcome was brilliant. Service perfectly attentive without being intrusive. Food was high quality. A really great experience.

The best beef carpaccio we ever ate! Plus the fish of the day to die for! Everything so fresh and delicious! We will be back for sure!
