Set at the end of a tranquil tidal creek on the Salcombe estuary, the Millbrook Inn is a hidden haven for those who enjoy good food, great wine and a pint of local ale.

The Millbrook Inn has a long-standing reputation as one of Devon's best gastro pubs. We take great care to source the finest local ingredients from land and sea, including from our own farm, and we prepare them simply and with love.

Our home - the idyllic village of South Pool – is easy to reach from Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes. When the tide is right, it’s only a short boat trip from Salcombe.

Whether by our homely fire or our babbling brook, we look forward to welcoming you to the Millbrook Inn very soon.

Visited this pub whilst hiring a boat and it didn't disappoint overall and we'd certainly return. Service was a little lacking but one guy who was very busy. Food was ok, I little expensive but not something they didn't try to hide. Nice pint and will defo recommend.

Booked this event as wanted to support local producers and venues as we live in the area and are conscious of the importance of doing this, particularly during the quieter months when the tourists have gone home. We arrived at 6.15pm (15 minutes late) due to such an early start time which we did query. We were advised on the phone that the food was being served from 6.30pm. Due to having full-time work commitments we tried our best to arrive at the required time of6pm. When we arrived and made ourselves known at the bar we were given a drink of Gimlet. We then proceeded to order wine which took some time as the person serving couldn’t find what we asked for and said she normally only works on the farm. Everyone then began to come inside and sit down onto the big communal table that was set up upstairs. There was no one assisting with this so by the time we were shown upstairs the two seats left were not together. The waiting staff tried to get the other diners to shuffle along but after a lot of resistance from them we were shown to another table of two downstairs. This was next to another table of two and then a much larger table next to us which at times made it difficult to hear when trying to have a conversation. When the food started to come it became apparent that we had missed the first 3 canapés so the table next to us asked the waiting staff if we could have them. We were given 2 of the three (1 of which was cold) The main fish item from the surf and turf menu was spider crab tagliatelle which was a surprise as we had paid £85 per person (not including wine). The main beef course was 2 mouthfuls of sirloin and 2/3 mouthfuls of pulled beef with some greens. The dessert when the waitress was asked where the missing sorbet was gave a blank expression. All in all for the price paid when you compare it to other venues nearby offering taster menus etc this was not up to par. It’s a shame as wanted to support the Millbrook but won’t be rushing back.

We were on holiday as a family group in South Pool. The Millbrook lived up to its reputation and more. The dinner menu offered excellent choices, including ‘to share’ options on certain ( pricier ) items. Everything was of the highest standard, reflecting the quality of produce, mostly local and very fresh , which no doubt enabled flavours to be enhanced by the talented team in the kitchen. Many compliments to the chef who produced a memorable and exceptional meal, the culinary highlight of our week!

All round first-class food, service and ambiance. A very welcoming pub in a beautiful village at the end of the estuary.

There was a short wait for our table, which was fine as the pub was busy. We were upstairs, which was a nice room. The service was slow but not awful. The meat was good but the over cooked plain boiled green vegetables were boring, the cauliflower cheese was lovely but two small bowls for 7 people was not enough (one spoon each), and 1 or 2 small roast potatoes each also not enough (happy to forgo the boiled potatoes!). Puddings were excellent.

We had excellent food and service at Millbrook. We were disappointed that there was no lobster but the food we chose was beautifully cooked and presented. Helpful and attentive staff so all in all a very good experience and will definitely go back there.

We had previously visited the Millbrook August 23 and had the best Sunday Roast we'd ever had. This year however it was possibly one of the worst overpriced roasts we'd ever had. The beef was so overcooked, chewy and tasteless. Roast potatoes which were hardly roasted and accompanying veg poor. All served with greasy tasteless gravy. One good thing was the cauliflower cheese which was delicious. Aside from the cauli cheese, this was a meal more suited to Toby Carvery and so overpriced. Gives the feeling of being very up itself to be honest. We did recommend to friends who are visiting Salcombe but after this we told them to look elsewhere. Shame.
