Milk and Honey is a New Orleans themed Southern Brunch that features Award Winning Shrimp & Grits, Chicken & Waffles, RumChata French Toast and specializes in other slow cooked mouth-watering favorites. Milk and Honey Wharf is located along the beautiful Southeast Waterfront in Washington DC. Great ambience but they didn’t allow for time to review the menu and order. The reservation was for 8pm and we were told the kitchen closes in 40 minutes so we have to decide pretty quickly, reservations shouldn’t be allowed 1 hour to closing. There were several items on the menu that wasn’t available which were sides to it made it difficult to choose since there are already a small number of items. The martinis were great and the buffalo shrimp. Seems to be a better brunch spot than for dinner.

Our server was wonderful and worked to make our service a little faster. The kitchen was a bit slammed so food took a while to come out but was delicious.

Today was our 2nd visit to Milk & Honey. I have to start off by saying we had a nice time and the food was good. We had a few issues with service. I ordered a cup of seafood gumbo and turns out they were out of it. No big deal… this issue was they didn’t tell me that until the rest of tables food had been delivered and I had to flag someone down to ask where my order was. The server Joanna could have told me A LOT sooner so that I could have adjusted me order and had something to eat. Needless to say, I ended up ordering shrimp & grits which was delivered 25 minutes later and the table was done eating so I took it to go. And get this… they didn’t even COMP my meal, apologize or offer me a discount for the inconvenience. All good but really??? We also had the young man who delivered our food spill our bottle of seltzer water and not offer to replace it. Again really??? We took it all in stride but customer service was definitely not a priority today. Our first visit was much better.

The energy and desire to be great was there but the execution was lacking. The food was average and inconsistent. For example, the sausage in the gumbo and shrimp and grits was overcooked and burnt but the shrimp was prepared perfectly! A bite of glory was followed by a bite of agony. The wait staff was trying its best to create a great experience but the kitchen staff was missing the mark. It may have been an off night so I'd try them again to be fair in hopes of having a better dining experience.

They restaurant was low on staff only had one waiter for the entire restaurant which caused the resv time to be null and void because we had to wait an additional 20mins to be seated and then wait for a waiter to come. Food came out not hot and old letting it just sit under the heat lamp. We have to do better as a black owned restaurant

I have been at different location, VA and MD and had a great experience. The WARF location service was horrible, the host team was rude and unprofessional. The server was polite, tried everything in her power to make us comfortable. The Appetizer came out after our meal and drink came out when finished eating. Our experience at this location is disappointing.

My dining experience at Milk and Honey was subpar. The service was horrible and our server brought our half of our food and left the others waiting for 45 minutes. We had already finished our food by the time theirs finally came out. The waiter forgot to bring certain dishes and we had to ask several times for him to come over to our table to repeat our order. There was no sense of urgency or apology.

Unable to attend the reservation. Dropped my wife to check in, then tried to find parking. People should be warned to arrive at least an hour early for a Saturday evening reservation. After spending at least 30-45 minutes searching for parking in bumper to bumper traffic that was barely moving, I called my wife in the restaurant and said it was obvious it was going to take at least another hour to find parking. She paid her bill for the drink she had ordered (Aperol Spritz, but delivered with no fizz and no ice, so undrinkable), and I picked her up and we drove home. So, from Gaithersburg, 30 miles from the restaurant, I spent three hours behind the wheel without ever leaving my car, and we ended up getting dinner from Chipotle as we neared home. I’m sure my burrito was better than anything Milk & Honey had to offer.

Absolutely horrible experience without question. Had a reservation for lunch at 2:30 seated at 2:40 which was the highlight of the experience. The waiter didn’t arrive to take the order or even say a word until another 20 minutes later. It took another 15 minutes to receive water!! After my wife and I ordered food. The waiter never returned with a drink, appetizer or a word to see if we were alright. Yet there were 4 other tables that were provided with service although they arrived 15 minutes after we were seated. This was an extremely disappointing as this was our first time going to Milk & Honey. After being treated poorly and being hungry with no food or service my wife and I decided to depart with nothing to a glass of water from a restaurant we were looking forward to experiencing. Not impressed with the lack luster level of customer service. Would not recommend if you are hungry looking for good customer service and eating food before you pass out from hunger.
