Welcome to Milaanj at The Beehive Restaurant & Pub, one of the top 50 gastropub's and reference in Michelin guide.

We bring to you an exciting edit of global dishes, masterfully elevated with Indian flavours, that are interpreted through a modernist lens. Not as good as it used to be. The menu is a mixture of Indian and traditional pub dishes, some of the latter with a splash of curry. The service was slow and basic. One hour before our first, main course arrive and half an hour before the glass of wine, twice requested, arrived. I would have had a second glass but it was never offered. The aubergine was reported delicious; the fish and chips ok, the beef sparse, the roast potates rather hard, with a few wisps of boiled cabbage. Surely nobody wants chunks of beetroot with their roast? Puddings OK. Not worth the journey, quite long, which we made regularly to the Beehive under the old management. Either go to an Indian or a regular pub.

Great restaurant a must try Taster menu was very well balanced. Trout was excellent Wines are fairly priced

The welcome was warm and it is obvious that the owners want you to love your time with them. We selected a Sauvignon from India which was fresh and went well with the gentle spicing of the food. The delicious masala bread with tomato butter was a real unexpected treat as we had decided to try dishes on the a la carte menu. Starter were the lamb kebab which was tasty and well seasoned and the scallops. The accompaniments were tasty but the scallop dish lacked a kick and the scallops were well-cooked but probably needed to be one large juicy scallop rather than two smaller ones. Mains were lamb rump which was impressively cooked and delicious and chicken which was pleasant. Again, spicing was light and it would be good if the sauces and accompaniments packed a stronger punch. We shared a chocolate marquise with orange sorbet, cherries and crumb ‘soil’. This was delicious! All in all, a nice experience and so glad we tried. The service was warm and attentive. Presentation of every course was beautiful but some further attention to flavours would make us return. What they are trying to achieve here cannot be faulted and it would be good to see where Malaanj takes its food next as it finds its feet!

Excellent food for non vegetarian eaters with a lovely touch Indian influence. However the vegetarian food in need of some improvement. Nevertheless, we’ll be back.

Very welcoming friendly staff. Not too busy when we ate but a nice ambience to the dining area. The service couldn't be faulted. We enjoyed the fusion aspect to the menu and the food itself was great. We hope to return soon.
