Took friends new to the area here and we loved it. Got 6 shared plates for the 4 of us from their summer menu. Great people and vibe.

We came here based on many great reviews on open table. And indeed, like many other diners noted, the food was great. Nice Icelandic / Scandinavian comfort food. It was noted that it was a family kind of dining so we brought our one year old with us… No changing table in the only bathroom. Come on!! When i mentioned this to the waiter if they’d bring this up w the management, they asked what a changing table was. Is this so much to ask or expect of a restaurant? Our bill was $200 there. So disappointing. Families with babies beware :(

This cute but modest place offers brunch food that turned out to be excellent and a little bit out of the ordinary. The locks open face on Rye was delicious as was the LingonBerry bread pudding. That bread pudding would be enough for a table of four to share to get a taste while they order other things, all of which is a reasonable prospect given the affordable pricing here. My two friends started with the herring and each had the savory waffle with salmon, which they both enjoyed. Even the coffee was good and the service was efficient and friendly.

Mikko's is a wonderful neighborhood place. Comforting, quality food options, friendly service. Not fancy, but comfortable.

We started with the deviled eggs. OMG the duck on top was phenomenal. It made the appetizer! I had the salmon. It was fresh and flavorful. It was also served with tasty mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. Healthy and delicious! My husband had the pasta which was full of flavor and plentiful. For dessert, we opted for the lingonberry bread pudding. It was scrumptious! The drinks also deserve mentioning because they were perfect. I can't wait to return and try something else.

The cocktails are pretty much the only redeeming aspect of the menu. They were quite good and reasonably priced, especially during happy hour. The Arancini starter was also good. But the dinner entrees were literally TV dinner-quality. The veggies and fries that came with the schnitzel were barely seasoned at all and tasted straight from a Trader Joe's freezer bag. And the "schnitzel" itself was just a panko-crusted chicken tender. The crab cake was decent on its own, but again nothing notable (they also forgot the aioli). The food was vastly overpriced for the quality that you get, and none of it seems made to order--all prepped in advance and warmed in a microwave, which a restaurant shouldn't even have, let alone rely on.

We went to Mikko on a Saturday for a 6:30 dinner reservation. Our plans changed during the afternoon, so we ended up ready for dinner quite a bit earlier. Mikko's accomodated us with no issue. The server was pleasant and friendly. We both enjoyed the soup and the deviled egg appetizer. The drinks were delish. I enjoyed the burrata salad and my husband loved the salmon-- said the skin was cooked perfectly! We both enjoyed the licorice ice cream and chocolate cake. All in all, a really lovely experience!

Great food & drinks - creative takes on Nordic standards. Small plates were generous & good for sharing. Entrees were generous too. Friendly, helpful & relaxed service. We sat outside in an enclosed curbside area with heaters on a 40 degree night & were comfortable. Would recommend highly!
