Chef Dunlap was previously the Executive Sous Chef at The Inn at Little Washington and the Corporate Executive Chef of Quirk Hotels (Quirk Hotel RVA & Quirk Hotel CVille). He was named as 1 of the 32 Restaurant Stars on the Rise in 2020 by FSRMagazine, Rising Star Chef of the Year by Two Roads Hospitality Worldwide, and has won Best Dishes at Broad Appetit 4 years in a row.

We are never disappointed when we go to Midlothian Chefs Kitchen. The dumplings are always a must, maybe two orders! It’s a perfect date night spot or special occasion dinner.

Lovely restaurant, decor, service. Food left a lot to be desired. We had a salad that was good, not great. Tasted like it was dressed with olive oil and salt but nothing else. Pork and shrimp dumplings were ok. Beef tartar lacked flavor and the bread/croutons were not crunchy or chewy yet extremely hard to chew. Stale maybe. Beef tenderloin for main dish was extremely disappointing. The meat was cooked well and had nice flavor. But it was served with maybe 3 pieces of cauliflower that lacked flavor and substance. And the dish looked pale and unappetizing at best. We will not be returning due to disappointing food.

We had a party of 10 to celebrate my wife’s 65 th birthday and all thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Food was outstanding and service from our lead server Sean and entire team was impeccable! Can’t wait to visit again.

Food was terrific . Scottish salmon with lobster sauce was delicious. Salad was refreshing and satisfying. Even the bread was superior to anything you will find in most restaurants. Service was perfect. Can’t wait to return.

Very accomodately. Underscore excellent service. Special requests granted with a genuine smile. Special thanks to Olivia (server) and host/hostess crew. Cuisine quality? Great! Loved the beef tartare and ribs.

Overall a better experience than last time when we waited 45 minutes for a cocktail and appetizers arrived before said cocktail. Host tried to seat us at a cramped 2-top next to another couple with less than a foot between the tables. The host, realizing how bad the table was, said we could choose another table if we wanted. We chose a little more private table by the window. We were going to move outside in 80 degree weather if he made us stay at the first table. We like to start our dinner with either a cocktail or glass of sparkling wine. Since last time the cocktail took 45 minutes, we decided to go with sparkling. I love sparkling rose in the summer, but they had none by the glass, which was disappointing. So we went with the only choice for sparkling by the glass, a Spanish brut. The champagne glasses are like entertainment glasses you get at world market with a thick glass rim/stem. I love a nice glass to drink out of, prefer a tulip or coupe for champagne, so this was disappointing. The waitress has already asked us for our order twice as this point. We told her we would like to enjoy our sparkling first, as we planned to order wine with meal, and knew the appetizer would come out before we even finished the sparkling. You have to order the appetizer and meal at the same time. You just feel really rushed at this place. So we finished our sparkling and ordered our meal and wine. My husband told the waitress we wanted our wine with the appetizers. Wine was served and spilled on the table, which he came over after and wiped up. Nothing was said about the wine we ordered, as far as taste or anything. As in not one word, other than asking who would like to taste it. Appetizers arrived, beef tartare and pork dumplings and both were delicious. We were able to enjoy them with our wine. As soon as app plate taken, entree was served. Filet was delicious. Service is better at Ruth’s Chris/servers more knowledgeable about food/drink.Disappointing

My meal was amazing and service on point, and the rest of my group seemed pleased as well. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was that it was extremely stuffy and humid inside almost like the AC wasn’t working well. It’s not ideal to perspire while you eat. Otherwise would definitely go back.
