Too plain for a river oaks restaurant, nothing on the tables not even a candle, I thought they were about to close that's why the the tables were empty. I was not impressed by the food either.

The restaurant is lovely. Very nice ambience. My girlfriends and I met here for our weekly lunch and to enjoy the special menu for Restaurant Week. They offered two course meals. I opted for the Nachos Locos which were delicious served with picadillo meat, guacamole & sour cream. Then I had the Mi Tierra Tacos - street style tacos with fajita meat, onions, cilantro Serrano peppers served with rice & refried beans. Everything was very tasty and seasoned perfectly. My girlfriends ordered beef fajitas and shrimp ceviche as an appetizer. Everyone was pleased with their selections and with the good service. Waitress was super sweet and took good care of us. The manager checked on us too. That’s always appreciated when we visit restaurants. We all look forward to returning. Their regular menu looks good.

This place won't survive. It's designed to cater to Midwestern tastes, not Houston's. Think Taco Bell, Bennigan's, Olive Garden, etc. Food tasteless. Service OK. Nice looking place. I'll be surprised if it lasts until December of this year.

The meal itself was very mid. The ground meat was salty with that being said it ruined my total experience because several of my dishes had ground meat in them..

Decoration great, food was not. Tortillas were from grocery store, not fresh. Fish tacos were awful.

The food was AMAZING. So flavorful and delicious. The waiter who ended up helping us, Prince, was so kind and attentive. He made sure everything was perfect. The manager, Javier, also came by and checked on us. Overall great food and ambience! If you love Tex-Mex and an elevated yet down to earth experience, you will love Mi Cocina. I will definitely be returning and requesting Prince as our waiter.

Took a really long time for a waiter to show up. A waiter in another section even walked over and asked if we had even gotten any drinks. He finally showed up but barely checked on us. I had to ask for the check and even that took a while. I’m very easygoing and don’t ever complain. But this was my second visit to this restaurant and my first experience was amazing (we had an awesome waiter!) but this time around I was disappointed. I’m sure I’ll be back because the ambience is great, the food and drinks are really good too. Maybe this was just a one time thing.
