Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson is a vibrant contemporary American restaurant from Marcus Samuelsson within the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Metropolis is the culinary anchor of this new cultural cornerstone of Lower Manhattan and is honored to play a role in the final chapter of rebuilding the World Trade Center site. Its menu explores the rich culinary traditions of New York City through a modern lens with theatrical cocktails, a fun and worldly wine list, and gracious hospitality. Designed by David Rockwell, Metropolis features a dazzling yet warmly inviting dining room and a bustling bar, a landscaped outdoor terrace, and a lobby lounge featuring free-to-the-public artistic programming.

Succotash was amazed by but the pricey watermelon tomato salad was tasteless. Crispy snapper was very good also.

The recent update to the brunch menu at Metropolis makes the restaurant even more alluring as a pre-theatre option for weekend performances at the adjoining PAC theatre, and there's no reason not to overindulge with entrees like a French omelette with creme fraiche and beurre blanc, and fries that recall the best of Belgium. Bravo.

Great ambience and great service. The brunch menu was great - we loved the honeybun with the jamon iberrico and the chicken and biscuit! Our server and bartender were great as both gave my family great service!

Good though not great food. Cornbread was a standout. Mains were standard flavors and unadventurous but executed solidly. Good portions. Service was BAD. The slowest ever. For example: We got served our main course but still had no silverware. Had to ask for it. Then nobody returned to check on us ever again. Would have ordered more drinks and dessert as we had plenty of time having finished our meal but we couldn’t find anyone at all for 30mins and we were desperate for a check. And even then we had to ask a busboy to please get it as our server was still MIA. A fine spot if you’re seeing a show here and want the ease of location. The lobby music was nice. But certainly not up to Marcus S name standards and prices.

This is my third time at Metropolis. It’s always a pleasure to come here. The service is attentive but not overbearing, and servers are knowledgeable. The menu has been refreshed for summer. The crispy snapper and cascatelli mains were stand outs, and the passion fruit tart is absolutely delicious. Plating is always gorgeous. Cocktails are excellent, especially the martinis. The vibe is a little odd if you happen to arrive when the crowd is coming in for a performance at PAC, but otherwise this restaurant is an amazing addition to downtown dining options.

Our first visit to Metropolis and we will return. It’s definitely the best restaurant if you are attending performance at PAC. Food is great and ambience lovely with good staff.

Enjoyed the dinner. Thought the fried chicken plate had a lot of unexpected sweetness. It worked at points and then it would feel clloying sweet. I would go back.
