   We first went to Metate a year ago and loved it. The food is really outstanding . It is hard to find down a dirt road off the highway, but quite lovely once you get there. So we were happy to come back this year. Again the food was outstanding, with unusual dishes. The service was also very good. Except for one thing: the music was extremely loud with a big bass beat. When we asked to turn the music down, the server said this is the level that we usually have. They did offer us a table that was further away from the music which was better. But it was not good. So all through the meal, our party could hardly hear one another talkthis boom boom boom kept going on in the background. As we left, I noticed the DJ happily bumping along to the beat he was pumping out. Sadly, I will not go back unless I hear things are different. To be fair, there were other diners that who did not seem to be disturbed by the music. But when I go out to eat, I like to talk to my companions with the music as a background rather than have the music drum in my ear while I give up on conversation.

   We enjoyed the ambience of Metate and our server, Victor, was great. Our food, however was average. Three of us had the fish (sea bass) and all agreed it was overcooked and some did not care for the sauce. One person had the pork shank which also seemed a bit overdone and not as tender as expected.

   This was a great place for fun as a date night or family fun evening. It was a colorful place full of life and cultural art to speak to your senses. We loved the seeing the restaurant dog that was friendly. The food was great. Just don’t order the flavorless horchata. Everything else was super tasty.

   Metate was our first culinary experience in Cabo and it was absolutely AMAZING! Would eat here 10 out of 10 again. Service, food, ambience, etc - all were simply amazing. Outdoor real Mexican dining at its finest! Thank you for an awesome experience Metate.
