Our late afternoon time at Messina Hof was amazing!! Did a very yummy wine tasting with a baked goat cheese appetizer and a server who was phenomenal! We’ll be back!

I hesitate to post about Messina Hof Harvest Green because it's one of those treasures you want to keep to yourself but alas, it's too good to stay quiet this long. The selection & quality of the food never disappoints: we had the tasting menu from the HRW menu and each course was fantastic (burrata salad, scallops& pasta and strawberry bread pudding). What made it all the more enjoyable was the service and advice from our waiter Jonathan, who was also busy with large parties but never failed to check on us and give great recommendations on wine pairings for each course. A special shout as well to Hannah and Chloe for checking on us and making it such a warm and enjoyable experience. A hidden gem here in Richmond that you need to try.

Fabulous food and wine as always. Only complaint is that it tends to get loud when it’s busy. I had a hard time talking with my table mates.

Jonathan was an excellent waiter. He took time to ensure we were happy with our selections. The goat cheese appetizer was delicious.

Meat pizza was great Brownie was decadent . Wine and sparkling wine was great of course. Servers very kind and friendly. Sam, Avery and Xavior an asset to the restaurant

Overall a terrible experience. Made reservations and waited for table to be ready. Two bottles of water were brought out for us, one chilled, one room temperature. Three of us ordered iced tea. Iced tea was not iced. Okay…that’s fine. One of us ordered root beer (no beer available) & got Coke instead. Two of us ordered tastings. Waitress never followed up with us regarding the tastings. She could’ve easily upsold us, but simply didn’t care. When we ordered our meals, three ordered from the HRW menu (2 steaks, 1 scallops) & two of us ordered from the main menu (pizza & the fish). The salads were served but we had no silverware. We had to wait several minutes for silverware to be provided. The salads were served on hot plates and were quite warm by the time we could eat them. Our meals came…the fish (snapper) was overcooked as were the scallops. The steak was mediocre. For a restaurant that touts & promotes the wine in the preparation of the entrees sure was incredibly skimpy with said wine sauces. The overcooked snapper would’ve been tolerable had there been sufficient sauce. The scallops, which the menu stated to be four, were six small, grossly overcooked scallops. Our waitress never asked if we wanted to order a glass or bottle of wine. The Sauvignon Blanc was great & we would’ve ordered a bottle, but lost interest due to poor service & food quality. We had to ask for refills of our iced tea, THEN had to ask for ice. C’mon!! I’m part of a wine group & I would NEVER recommend our group to visit Messina Hof Harvest Green. I fact, I likely would never visit the Bryan or Fredericksburg locations other than to purchase wine. The entire experience was incredibly poor. Y’all can & should train better & do better.

We strive to give our guests great experiences and leaving as part of the family, clearly, we missed the mark here. We are using your feedback as a coaching tool to help better our staff and the food coming out of our kitchen.
