This is where it all started – on the banks of the Rappahannock River overlooking where we grow our oysters. We like to call Merroir a “tasting room,” just so people know to expect something different. Everything is either served raw or cooked on an outdoor grill, small-plate-style, and beautifully paired with craft brews and world-famous wines. Each menu item is singularly-focused, seasonal, and ever-changing, so there’s always a surprise in store.

We had reservations for inside because the weather probability was rainy and while the outside was super busy and full and the weather was not rainy we had the inside bar area to ourselves and had wonderful service and food. I highly recommend.

The weather turned out to be perfect. The staff accommodated our last minute request for outdoor seating. The food, although expensive, was perfectly fresh and tasty.

Our evening was perfect. The food and wine were beyond delicious. The weather was great. The boat slip was nice and we will be back! Thank you.

It's always a pleasure to stop in at Merroir! We had a new waitress today, Emily, who was like the rest of the staff at Merroir - awesome. We had Poke Taco's, Po Boy Sandwich, the crabcake, ceviche, raw oysters, and everything was delicious!

It was our 35th wedding anniversary. I told this in my reservation. They acted like they didn’t even know we were coming. We had a nice table outside, but our waitress was absent most of the time. The oysters were great and the views amazing. Otherwise it was a disappointing experience.

Always enjoy the view and our meals were delicious. The spring salad is a must if on the menu and the silk snapper special was a hit. Service was outstanding as well.

As long as the weather is nice, you can't beat the ambience of sitting outside and looking out over the river! Oysters are obviously the draw--very fresh (if a little small sometimes). Wine list is adequate and has good matches for oysters as well as others. The Stuffin Muffin was YUMMY! Clams were a little rubbery (and salty) and the special swordfish was too salty for me--but not for my husband :-)--but the accompanying veggies were nice. Desserts were REALLY good--layered chocolate cake with some sort of insanely delicious toffee sauce, and the lemon custard (which isn't really a custard) but very good--not too sweet, and dairy-free if you ask for no whipped cream on top. Our server was very nice and attentive. Worth the drive for a special occasion!

Don't waste your money. Service was below average. Along with her not knowing the menu, we asked to move since we were sat in the walkway & were told the other table had reservations. No one sat there while we were there. We also had other guests speaking over our table to each other, and a big dog's tail wagging near our food (i love dogs, but no). The food was average to below-- don't get the shrimp cocktail. They are not jumbo & look like they came from giant for $2.50 each. The cocktail sauce & burrata was good. The price of everything though, well above average & honestly not worth it. We won't be back.
