This is where it all started – on the banks of the Rappahannock River overlooking where we grow our oysters. We like to call Merroir a “tasting room,” just so people know to expect something different. Everything is either served raw or cooked on an outdoor grill, small-plate-style, and beautifully paired with craft brews and world-famous wines. Each menu item is singularly-focused, seasonal, and ever-changing, so there’s always a surprise in store.

Always love Merrior ( and Rapp Oyster) … we came by boat that day, brought the dog, sat outside in the gorgeous weather !!

Lovely place with great server. Unfortunately, we hit it on an excessively hot day & the flies were a major nuisance.

We've been to Merroir before with friends and were truly wowed. Unfortunately, not this time. The wait staff was excellent. The food, however, was not as we had remembered. The clams, while flavorful, were a bit tough and very sandy. The cheesecake and the key lime pie were okay. The coffee we ordered at the end of the meal was cold.

Great oysters and tile fish but the star of the show was the muffin stuffin.

Oysters on half shell were delicious, very clean tasting for both the “sweet” and the “salty” oysters. Beautiful view looking at the water.

Even though the temperature outside was very hot, there was a nice breeze outdoors by the water making the evening enjoyable

Merroir is always a treat! We make it once or twice every few years when down to Middlesex County. We enjoyed ceviche, a dozen oysters, Stuffin Muffin and the tuna poke tacos. It was definitely extremely hot but the shade sails did a great job creating the outdoor dining room. Service was excellent as well.

We have been there several times, but we have to say this time we were a little disappointed. A lot of it had to do with our waiter who left a lot to desire. The first glass of water he brought my partner had a big chip in it so he asked him to bring a different glass and he never did till we asked again. Can we have some water. We only got one glass of water he never refilled them and he just really was very much lacking in customer service Specially at this level over restaurant and it kinda ruined the experience and we didn’t want to order a second drink or dessert because of him. We have experience in the past and yes, we will be back but if I got the waiter again, I would ask for a different waiter.

They did not have my reservation even though I had a confirmation email from Open Table which I showed the hostess at check in. We were seated without delay however.
