Mermaid Oyster Bar is a family of casually sophisticated seafood restaurants born in New York in 2003.

Starting out in Manhattan’s East Village as a spot-on rendition of a casual New England fish shack, The Mermaid Inn has morphed into an American seafood brasserie, replete with style, hospitality and a menu marked by bold and seasonally inspired cuisine. The Mermaid Inn has been designed to evoke the feeling of being on a mini vacation in a small seaside village.

    Perfect place for post-theatre dinner. Arrived early and they seated me. Went with an array of appetizers - YUM! Don't miss the lobster knuckles and Spring Risotto.

    My favorite place to eat in the theater district. The food is great and the hospitality is very friendly and helpful.

    The service is consistently good at The Mermaid Oyster Bar. The seafood is fresh and delicious and the drinks are spot on. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly.

    They close at nine go early. We were sitting at the bar and they start breaking down the bar at 8:30 which was annoying.

    The waiter was wonderful. We had the fish tacos, lobster knuckles and roasted asparagus. Everything was delicious. Mermaid restaurants are consistently great. Always a good choice

    As advertised. Seven different types of oyster, shucked and on ice. Fresh, simple, delicious. Washed down with a glass (or two…) of cava which didn’t break the bank. Wedge salad was refreshingly rehydrating. Hush pups were crispy and soft. Solicitous servers. An excellent NYC dining experience.

    I’ve been here a few times now and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s actually a good restaurant in the theater district :)

    This was our second visit to Mermaid. It was a little noisy but that did nothing to take away the delicious food and superb service. We will make it a point to visit Mermaid Oyster Bar on every trip to NYC.
