Mermaid Oyster Bar is a family of casually sophisticated seafood restaurants born in New York in 2003.

Starting out in Manhattan’s East Village as a spot-on rendition of a casual New England fish shack, The Mermaid Inn has morphed into an American seafood brasserie, replete with style, hospitality and a menu marked by bold and seasonally inspired cuisine. The Mermaid Inn has been designed to evoke the feeling of being on a mini vacation in a small seaside village.

The rolls and smashed potatoes were swimming in butter. The lobster knuckles were somewhat tough as if overcooked (also swimming in butter). The cod with bok choy was very good. The first drink had to be sent back because it tasted so bitter it was undrinkable. It was way too loud to hear each other talk and it wasn’t even that crowded when we got there. Overall it was okay but had better meals elsewhere.

My favorite go-to midtown restaurant!!!! Service is excellent. Every appetizer, salad, entrée, side dish, dessert we've ever ordered has been perfection (and I've been here countless times since this location opened). The bar is welcoming and lively, with a fantastic selection of wine, beer, alcohol, mixed drinks and non-alcoholic beverages. This restaurant has a sparkling and wonderful ambiance, and one of the most comfortable restaurants in Manhattan, where many restaurants are too cramped, loud, crowded and annoying. Everyone here is helpful, efficient, friendly, thoughtful and knowledgeable about their jobs. Their chef and cooks are superb, making each dish a scrumptious and satisfying culinary pleasure, with a consistency that you can count on. We LOVE this restaurant beyond measure.

The food tasted was ok but the food was not worth the money. I have a lot to say about the service, but I won't do it.

The restaurant was very centrally located and had great food . Bring a sweater even in the summer time as it was very cold inside the restaurant to the point my friends and I had to leave earlier than anticipated

Great vibe! Food was excellent and the waitstaff very attentive. Will definitely be going back on our next trip to the city.

Raw bar was very good. Very fresh tasting. The service was also very good. Our server was very attentive.
