Le Mercat a La Planxa vous propose une extraordinaire sélection de tapas à base de charcuterie et de fromages à la coupe, de fruits de mer frais, de steaks et de côtelettes, toutes inspirées de la gastronomie catalane en Espagne. Le menu impressionnant met l'accent sur des viandes et fruits de mer servis « à la plancha » ou grillés sur commande. Le bar sert une gamme alléchante de boissons de saison, notamment de sangrias et de cocktails de style espagnol. Par ailleurs, il propose une sélection de cavas d'Espagne ainsi qu'une quarantaine de grands crus espagnols disponibles au verre ou à la bouteille. I’ve always loved Mercat and last night I had the pleasure of returning with a few of my best, lifelong friends. As usual, the food, drink, service, and that amazing ambiance were stellar! I requested special seating, since we were celebrating a birthday and they delivered above and beyond with the best seat in the house and even threw in a delicious dessert complete with birthday candle. Mercat is by far one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Chicago and this is coming from someone who grew up here and loves her hometown. Thank you so much and huge kudos to all who made this night so extremely special!

Went for restaurant week. Tomato bread was totally different than it used to be. It was cold, soggy just ok, salmon was boring. Very disappointing. Steak was tougher than normal. Check could only be split between two credit cards. The bacon wrapped dates were still excellent.

Wonderful paella and bacon wrapped dates! Octopus was also a highlight as was the order of blue cheese.

Our waiter,Jeff, was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the lamb chops, octopus and crostini with Humboldt Fog cheese and fresh figs. Of course the bacon wrapped dates are a delicious favorite. The location was perfect for our theater experience that evening.

This was an odd meal at a luxury price point. We visited for NYE, as a 4-some of adults. The restaurant was maybe half full during the night yet they seated a family with small children on one side of us and a 6-top of only children (while their parents were seated a few tables away) on the other side. It was fine but weird vibes for NYE. They also paired the menu down by 75%. I called to see if they were doing a pre-fixe, they said no but didn’t mention they’d only offer a handful of dishes. I don’t eat dairy so this was especially difficult for me. The items they kept were none of their hearty dishes so we just kept ordering 3 pieces of bread for $12 and similar dishes. The food was good but nothing special - it was NOT a $500 meal based on the ambiance, menu offerings, portion sizes. Our waiter was really nice. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with nice holiday decor. Maybe I just had inaccurate expectations.
