Enjoy Southern comfort food with a twist in a relaxing, casual setting at Melba's. Owner Melba Wilson opened its doors for locals and travelers alike to have a pleasant dining experience with great service. Fried catfish strips, barbecue short rib sliders and spring rolls filled with black-eyed peas and collard greens make delicious appetizers before feasting on the main course. Guests can choose from entrées like Melba's popular Southern fried chicken with eggnog waffles, which was a winner on Throwdown! with Bobby Flay, as well as pan-seared sea bass and the barbecue turkey meatloaf. This restaurant also serves hamburgers, lighter fare and sides such as candied yams.

Melba's offers catered business luncheons, receptions and more. Reservations are welcome, and takeout is available for guests.

This was not what I expected. The value to the quantity of the food was very low. The food was not that great. Edible but not something I would go back again. The reviews were not consistent to the taste or quality. The service was pleasant and really great.

We love Melba's. We have been coming for years. Dinners birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, just brunch, you name it. Since the years of Green Apple Sorbet. Ask Melba herself. She will remember.. these were the days when she would come around to each table to see how everyone was doing. We kindly ask that you bring back a light refreshing dessert in addition to the current delectable ones you offer. I have one request which is going to sound like it is coming from a crotchety old lady. From the hours of say 5-9, might the music be at a level where families might be able to speak to each other from across the table and actually hear? I totally get that after 9PM it is time to party. And trust me, I can keep up with all of you. The second large room was very quiet, reserved for later parties, but midweek there was plenty of room for a smaller party of 7. So, if you are this family, ask for that. Finally, I asked for the catfish blackened instead of fried, no problem. Lighter and just as delicious. The food out very fast, so I was worried... no need, every morsel was delectable. The usual big portions have remained, so don't fill up on "comfitizerss" :-)

I'm a regular at Melbas. I went to lunch for my 48th Birthday 🎂 and the staff sang Happy Birthday Harlem Stevie Wonder style to me. It's always a pleasure supporting a black owned and female business!

Had a late Saturday afternoon meal here with family visiting from out of town and everything was lovely. The food was delicious, the servers were courteous, and the overall ambiance was nice and pleasant. Highly recommend.

This was my family and I first time here. The food was good. My mother didn’t care for the greens or her meatloaf. Lol. Why she would order that idk. My last critique is the portion size was off. My sister in law ordered shrimp and got four little shrimp. So just a few things to improve on.

The Red Sangria was delicious, and the bartender helpful. We each had catfish, collard greens and yams, which I highly recommend. The service was excellent - neither dilatory nor overly intrusive. Our only real negative was the high noise level. We were in a party of six, and it was difficult for one end of the table to hear the other. In fairness, this is true of a number of restaurants in Manhattan, so perhaps to highlight this feature of Melba's is not warranted. Do try this place.
