Meatmaiden is one hell of a steakhouse. Bringing you the best barbecue and grill in Melbourne, our large and energetic basement restaurant and bar and down-to-earth staff make us the perfect CBD venue for intimate dinners, work lunches, special occasions or functions.

We're part steakhouse, part smokehouse - with a unique and eclectic mix of premium steaks and smoked meats. We've been fine-tuning that approach for the last ten years to bring you the best meat around - dry-ageing select local cuts like O'Connor rib eye, tending the fire to smoke grass-fed short ribs over ironbark and pairing with signature dishes like our lobster mac cheese.

Our carefully-curated wine list focuses on some great Australian winemakers, with six taps of craft beer and quirky cocktails completing the line up.

Groups of 8+ people at dinner are required to dine from our $95 per person Maiden’s Mood chef’s choice menu, which is made up of seven sharing dishes and gives you a hit from the smoker and grill. The Maiden’s Mood requirement for 8+ people doesn’t apply at lunch – except from November 19 until the end of the year, when our Express Lunch menu takes a break. If you have kids under 12 years old in your group and the number of adults is less than eight people, then we’re happy for you to order from our Main Menu.

Impeccable service, lively environment, and most importantly perfect steaks. My Wagyu Strip was cooked to the perfect medium rare and melted in my mouth. Honourable mention to the house-made bread with cowboy butter- it was fluffy and delicious. Wait staff were also very friendly and approachable, and the lively, upbeat atmosphere & music really added to the experience. Would definitely visit again!

My steak, tho cooked the way I wanted, came to my table lukewarm. I’m sure it sat before being brought to my table. Knowing what happens when you send things back, I just ate it, tho I told my server. And then when paying and leaving was given justification by the manager as to why my meal came lukewarm. The place was noisy as well, and tables very crowded together. Not a relaxing space for a nice meal. I had high hopes, was very disappointed.

All good, with great food, drinks and service – but a bit noisy and menu impossible to read (without phone light!) so our waiter talked us through it. :P Chose the kitchen special which had a great assortment of dishes – bread (with amazing 'cowboy butter'), brisket, wagyu tartare, octopus and sirloin – with regular sides.

This basement steakhouse is a hidden gem! The cozy atmosphere and perfectly cooked steaks make for a delightful dining experience. Friendly service and tasty sides round out the meal, and if you are a lover of Whisky they have some great offerings that go well with your steaks. Highly Recommend

The service at this restaurant was amazing friendly service they made sure everything was good I loved the sitting the table was actually decent it was extremely spacious as you can fit 4 people on it. I booked for a table of two you never find tables that size anywhere these days they are all squished up The food was OMG it was the first time trying steak for me and it was such a memorable experience 100% chance I’ll be coming back

The burnt bread with cowboy butter was 10/10. Highly recommend the burst ends to start. The steak was smokey and cooked perfectly. I recommend the cauliflower sides, with greens.

We have dined at Meatmaiden a number of times now and it’s usually pretty good. Tonight the Brisket was dry, and the New York strip was overcooked, and the octopus was definitely over charred. Positives were the service, and the tuna was fantastic.
