Prices are high. There should be a dress code; T-shirts and shorts or jeans should not be acceptable in a fancy restaurant. Even the staff should have more formal appropriate dress and appearance standards. Frankly, the choices of dinner dishes is poor; sure, MDRD, you want to keep the "Mediterranean" theme, but may be taking it a little too far: Oxtail? Two dishes of Octopus? Please. The location on top of Grand Rapids is excellent. The layout: why is it that the bar occupies the best location in the restaurant? There are tables whose view is blocked by the backs of bar-patrons, bartenders, and the whole bar... Even the bar patrons are distant from the view by the bar, bartenders, counters, etc. Seems common sense that the bar should be at the back wall and more tables placed at the windows. Recommend? The view: yes. The service: yes. The selection and cost: not so much. Good experience as a nice place to go in Grand Rapids.

Terrible good. In some cases not as described. Fishy taste to did - and the food didn't have fish in it. Crazy cost for reservation $$225 reservation fee for 3 people!

Food was great! Elly did a nice job but she had a tough time getting the bartender to make drinks. He was busy talking with his buddy, and the inappropriate couple behind doing things they shouldn’t have w/children on the restaurant. The bartender is obviously protected since he did what he wanted. We were right next to the bar and Elly kept asking him but he didn’t care. It took 18 minutes to get our first drink. After ordering the second drink, we canceled after 22 minutes. Only half the tables were occupied. Great food but the bartender needs to go!

It is always a pleasure to spend our time here, whether it’s for a brunch, dinner, or drink. The taste, and quality of the food, as always, is simply exquisite. MDRD remains as one of the best restaurants to date. It exudes a modern feel of class without having the overbearing feeling of trying too hard. Even after having ordered everything from the previous menu at least once, the constant new changes of the menu keep them feeling fresh as if it’s a new experience every time. MDRD exemplifies what a restaurant should strive to be.

The view was spectacular but the food was just ok for the Hefty prices. Great service and good cocktails

MDRD is a definite go-to place above GR. Don't let the tourists in inappropriate apparel deter you from dining here. When the food arrives you'll be busy oohing and ahhing over the excellent presentations (and tasting) and you will no longer have to look at them. Definitely plan to return since there are more dishes here than you can possibly eat at one setting.

We were very excited to try this restaurant. We are from Chicago and love Tapas. Our waiter first appeared very personable. He was very knowledgeable on the wine list, we were seated at 5:30 and ordered 6 shared plates to start and drinks. The waiter served our drinks and then asked if we were interested in ordering any Tapas. we said not other than what we had ordered and he laughed and assured us our order was in. The first three plates arrived sequentially and in adequate time. All the food was delivered at room temperature but the Lamb chops were cooked well and tasty. The garlic pepper shrimp were had a good taste but cold and the goat cheese peppers lacked flavor entirely. That said, we were looking forward to a chance to be awed by the octopus and oxtail and inquired about their status at 6:45 an hour and 15 minutes later we asked how long it would be on those orders and our server said he couldn't give us an estimated time. We cancelled the two orders and asked for our bill. The bill arrived with an extra bottle of wine charged. All in all very disappointed in the timeliness and accuracy of our meal and definitely overpriced for the food we did receive.
