We booked McLarens for a family Sunday lunch at 2pm. We arrived early and were seated by the bar as our table was not ready, this worked well as my wife was yet to arrive from work. We were served drinks promptly and after a few minutes we were told that our table was ready but continued to wait for another 10-15 minutes for my wife at the bar table. Once she had arrived, we asked to be shown to our table. This is where some issues occurred, I believe there was a breakdown in communication as we were not provided with menus or seen by our server to have moved. Although the staff were polite, there seemed to be no oversight. We had to seek out staff to order. Not a massive issue but this increased our wait time for everything. Lunch took close to 3.5 hours from arrival to bill. The food was hot a delicious however the starter dipping bread with the Sunday lunch was inadequate. Portion sizes were on the smallish size for vegetables and the Yorkshire puddings were small and deflated. By no means was this a terrible experience but it certainly was a bit of a let down considering our experiences of McLarens before. It felt like the establishment was struggling with both staff and food resources and had made cuts to both in order to increase margin. Unfortunately this might be too much in the wrong direction and I would be reticent to re-book again. I would emphasise that everyone we interacted with on the day was lovely and couldn’t have been more accommodating, but they were clearly lacking managerial oversight and potentially another 1-2 servers.

I’ve been to McLarens on the Corner before multiple times and always had a lovely experience. Always being served good food with brilliant customer service. Until recently when I went I found my full Scottish breakfast being served cold, not only that but it took so very long to arrive. Once we had eaten as we were in a rush, it took quite some time for us to get the attention of any waiters who were quite clearly ignoring us. It’s a big shame as I was very fond of this place, I’m not sure if it’s the new menu or staffing issues but I’m not sure I’ll be back again.

Good was cold, my tacos were not cooked, the meat tasted weird! So much so, that i became unwell during the night.

From the moment we walked in a friendly greeting by Rowan me the family and dog were shown to our table. The level of service was absolutely outstanding. They looked after us throughout the evening, a full overview of the beers was given by barman which was great, he really knew his stuff helped me choose a beer. The fish and chips was excellent, no grumbles about the girls chicken and veggie burgers and fries. I had a vegetarian haggis with veg and roasties which although tasted good, and in the end it was filling, it looked rather underwhelming on the plate. Thought there could have been more roasties. Looked like a small portion on a big plate. Daughter’s birthday dinner and she was very much looked after by the staff!! All in all can highly recommend McLarens. Not my first time and definitely not the last.

Nice food although I agree with others that portions aren’t the biggest for the price. Staff were very pleasant but forgetful with orders. Lovely environment and clean.

Bit chaotic when we arrived and we were ignored by numerous staff for a while. Not a great first impression. Service reasonable but waiter looked very untidy. Food was tasty which is what mattered really.

welcome and happy to let us sit outside tho booked inside. Service a little slow but. it a prob as no rush. All very enjoyable all round.
