Although mchugh’s had no record of our booking with open table, they sorted us out straight away and we had a lovely evening. The food and ambience of that neighbourhood gem are second to none.

We were in McHughs to celebrate my friends 50th birthday. The customer service and food was excellent. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Really enjoyed our night. Highly recommend McHugh's.

I love McHugh's restaurant but on this occasion, I was slightly disappointed. We were lucky to have a quiet table to the front because the restaurant area was quite noisy last Friday night. We dined at 6pm but the waitress did not inform us that we could dine off the Early Bird menu. We discovered this when our bill arrived and two of the 4 meals were charged at Early Bird prices. That would be fine if the cost were actually cheaper but a burger and a dessert cost €28.50 on the Evening menu but it is actually €29 on the Early Bird for 2 courses. We initially thought we had been overcharged as the burger was listed on the bill at €29 and we didn't notice that the dessert was listed as €0. Now one might say why am I quibbling over 50c or €1? It's the principal of the matter. We were overcharged no matter what way it was dressed up. I was hugely disappointed by this. McHughs is usually good value for money but I was disappointed with my steak. It was overcooked and not as tasty as usual. I've had many steaks here over the years. This was the worst one to date. Also, the pork dish at €26 was very small with very little meat. The warm chocolate brownies were miniscule since our last visit in December. Definitely not worth €9.50. I asked for an oat milk flat white but was told the restaurant doesn't do oat milk. In this day and age, it's probably time to change that. I felt that the value for money was not as good on this occasion which is a pity because I usually love this restaurant. In saying that, the burgers and the apple crumble were excellent. Overall, I felt that it was very noticeable that prices had increased but portions had decreased.

The service is too fast. I don't want to recieve my starter 5 minutes after I order. We were still drinking a cocktail. We recieved the bottle of wine we ordered when we were almost finished our mains. Haphazard service. Food is fabulous however. They just need to work on timings & service

The place very nice. Staff very efficient n friendly. No delays in servicing meals. Food was beautiful. I had Hake delicious flavours. We had starters and main courses. Desserts were very expensive from previous experiences and though nice they were of the Musgrave’s variety. Nothing appealed to anyone.We had coffee. Because on previous visits my friends n I thought the desserts were very expensive I had made apple sponge and strawberry roulade to have when we came back to my house. This cost a lot less even if you take into account the buying storing plating serving and the variety in the menus. Kind Regards Elizabeth

Food was very good but it was served too quick. We were to have a night out but our food arrived too quickly. We could have left the restaurant within an hour. We did manage to slow it down. There was a big group arriving about a half an hour after us so I feel they were eager to serve our food before they took the groups orders.

We haven’t been here for a while following a nightmare interaction with a waiter who was rude and arrogant. This time we were stuck in a corner out of the main dining room. We chose to share a starter of pulled pork croquettes which were quite expensive give there were just two croquettes. They were quite good, though. That was the highlight. I followed that with a lamb tagine which was basically a stew without much discernible spices and which contained dry, overcooked lamb pieces and a small portion of rice planted on the side of the plate. My partner had the pasta. It’s a very limited menu. When the waitress brought it to the table my partner asked for some Parmesan cheese. I don’t think that was a major crime but an argument started when she was told that the dish contained Parmesan. The waitress stormed off to get it and we tried the food but it was actually pickled in salt. A small container of Parmesan was subsequently placed on the table but the food was inedible so it remained uneaten save for the part we tried in the vain hope that the saltiness hadn’t permeated the entire dish. When we were leaving I just told the waiter that he should let the chef know about the salt. I don’t know if he did not do I care. We paid the bill as we didn’t want another world war with a waitress who was very hostile but we won’t be back.
