For more than two centuries, McFarland House has stood as a monument to the impeccable demeanor, good taste and gracious living that epitomizes Niagara-on-the-Lake. Built at the turn of the 19th century by Scotsman John McFarland, the home was used as a military hospital during the War of 1812 by both the Americans and the British.
Now home to a glass-enclosed tea room serving freshly baked scones and delicate desserts with traditional afternoon tea or enjoy an array of luncheon options.

Very pretty spot. The food was okay. The service was not very attentive and slow. I would go back as it is a very relaxing and nice location. We really enjoyed the tea. I had Niagara Peach which was very delicious.

Such a beautiful site for high tea! The food was delicious. We really enjoyed it. The tea selection was tremendous! Something for everyone. The wait staff was not great, to be honest. Our waitress didn’t seem to want to be there and asking for her help seemed like she took offense to it.

The room was lovely with greenery surrounding like sitting in a greenhouse. We did the cream tea and lunch option with sandwich and salad. The food was tasteless - sandwich with salad - tiniest sandwich, dry and littlest amount of turkey. The scone was tasty although only 1 offered with tea for $13 is not great value. We left hungry afterwards and needed to get pizza somewhere. The tea served in clear steeping pots - jars looked cloudy and dirty and didn’t match ambiance of the tea cups. Would have been nicer if tea served in tea pots.

Such a great place for high tea with great friends! Cannot wait to return - looking forward to Christmas time there! Staff outstanding service and knowledge of tea etc.

Nothing special about this place and not worth visiting. The food is just ok. My husband and I have been to a lot of afternoon tea and unfortunately this one is disappointing. Ambiance is nice and staff were very attentive.

McFarland House has been my go to birthday celebration location for the past 20 years. Visit here for both the Tea House and Toyr if you’re interested in a relaxing and historical experience. Great tea selections, views and food is quite nice.

The service was excellent! But the room was very hot because the AC wasn't working. There was 1 fan to share between our table and another so we were eating and sweating. The tea was wonderful but I was expecting more variety on the plate. Overall it was an okay experience.

Our first time there. It was nice room though the AC wasn’t working (they did call to let us know) The platter that came with the tea needs a little more tarts and variety but what was served was ok as we cut everything in half. They may had a different tray but wasn’t explained in detailed. Service was great!

It was lovely being surrounded by parkland. The tea was good; sandwiches, scones, and pastries were delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. It felt like a special treat being there for afternoon tea.
