The food was delicious. My only complaint is that this is considered to be a high end restaurant specializing in steak and seafood. We waited a considerable time (probably 45 minutes) for our meal which one would expect and I had no problem given there were four of us and it gave us a chance to have a drink and talk. However I would have thought that the table would be offered some complementary pre meal nibbles such as bread/rolls/breadsticks with butter or vinaigrette or the like. Nothing was offered and so I mentioned to our waiter after our food had arrived. He told me that they don’t offer because of the expense (?) and if they did then people may apt to order a lesser meal. Really? That seems cheap to me when the meal is probably going to cost $150-$200.

We had amazing service as per usual with Maxwell’s. Our server, René was so helpful with the menu suggestions from appetizers to wine to even our Chateaubriand. I highly recommend the dining experience when visiting Fredericton or make it a regular spot if you are fortunate enough to live in the area

The staff at Maxwell's went out of their way to ensure our daughter's birthday celebration was special. Thank you to everyone who helped me. The food was delicious! We had appetizers and steak dinners for our mains. All of the dishes were 10/10. Our server was very pleasant and took great care of us. I dropped the birthday cakes off in the afternoon and the staff had the cakes on the table before our arrival as requested. Sadly, I have one complaint. The champagne that I pre ordered was not cold and the markup price for Veuve Clicquot was very expensive at $215. Was that a mistake? We recently (last month) paid $130 at a high end restaurant in Halifax. I did not check the price of the Veuve Clicquot champagne at Maxwell's before ordering, as I preordered it and asked for it to be chilled at the table prior to our arrival. (I have learned my lesson - ask the price of champagne before ordering) Another thing, when pouring champagne, it's best to pour no more that half a glass for each person and then top up when the glass is low or empty. We drank the champagne however we didn't enjoy it as it wasn't cold enough. We didn't say anything to our server because at that point what could they do? Complaining takes away from the celebration. By writing this, I hope to help someone who would like their champagne chilled. The bottle was in an ice bucket with some ice in the bucket but no water. Water helps to chill the champagne to a perfect temperature 20 - 30 minutes before consuming.

Had the chateaubriand. It was very good. Order it as soon as possible as it takes time to prepare properly. Our server, Rene was very attentive, friendly, and had an impressive knowledge of wine pairings. Definitely will return.

We like to eat quite lightly so we had the appetizer scallops , crab cakes and shared a Caesar salad - all of which were delicious. Bread on the side. Eton mess shared. Our server, James, was excellent. A glass of California Chardonnay, well chilled, completed the picture. Ambience reminded us of the dining rooms of years ago. Rare today and still very special. Prices seem aligned with Toronto but the hotel pub offered alternatives. Generally the servings of beef, lamb seemed too large for us, our only criticism.
