Featuring modern renditions of classic American seafood, Max’s Oyster Bar menu has something for everyone. While seafood is the focal point, there are selections for even the most ardent landlubber. Ethnic influences are apparent throughout a menu filled with new interpretations on traditional fare. The raw bar offers an extensive variety of bi-coastal oysters and shellfish.

In it’s freshman year, 1999, Max’s Oyster Bar was awarded “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine. Since then it has won numerous Reader’s Choice Awards, including “Best Seafood Restaurant”. Zagat’s Survey has also given Max’s Oyster Bar an “extraordinary” rating.

I've eaten several times at Max's Oyster Bar. Primarily, for special occasions. The food never disappoints. This is the first time I've had brunch there. Tried the soup on special. Lobster bisque. A rather large bowl was served of this lovely concoction. It was flavorful, rich and very filling!! Couldn't finish it all! Had the eggs benedict, which is a favorite of mine. Very good!! All in all, no complaints. Oh! The bloody Mary was Large and also, very good. Can't go wrong eating at Max's!! Worth every penny!

Dinner was fresh and delicious. The scallops were perfectly cooked. The tuna appetizer that my husband ate was also beautiful to look at and tasted delicious. We both enjoyed the chowder too. Our server was also excellent about answering questions we had on the menu items.

Max Oyster bar - W. Hartford never disappoints. We had a very friendly waitress who never rushed us once and started with a glass of champagne, which was lovely. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays… Ambience is always warm and inviting. I'm a big fan of their shrimp scampi, the pasta is homemade and so fresh. enjoy!

Wonderful dinner at max Oyster. Great table, awesome server, delicious food…. but oddly, the noise level increased as the evening went on - music did not need to be turned up at 8!

My husband had one of the best experiences ever while dining last night. The food was fabulous & our waiter was attentive, friendly, efficient and very professional. We thoroughly enjoyed my husband’s 83rd birthday dinner. Well done (as usual)!!
