Featuring modern renditions of classic American seafood, Max’s Oyster Bar menu has something for everyone. While seafood is the focal point, there are selections for even the most ardent landlubber. Ethnic influences are apparent throughout a menu filled with new interpretations on traditional fare. The raw bar offers an extensive variety of bi-coastal oysters and shellfish.

In it’s freshman year, 1999, Max’s Oyster Bar was awarded “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine. Since then it has won numerous Reader’s Choice Awards, including “Best Seafood Restaurant”. Zagat’s Survey has also given Max’s Oyster Bar an “extraordinary” rating.

my husband and I enjoyed our brunch here. There was an artist singing, which made it even more fun. We got the steak and eggs and the lobster Benedict and both of them were absolutely delicious! Not to mention awesome servers

Our waitress didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. Very rude and didn’t smile. Barely checked on us after our meals came so didn’t have a chance until well into our meal to request for more salad dressing (the salad barely had any dressing on it and the steak was very boring/no flavor at all). I didn’t even bother asking at that point. Not a very welcoming restaurant if you go by how the waitress’ behavior was. I’ve had unfriendly waitresses here before so this will be my last time at Max’s Oyster.

Upscale seafood restaurant with their own spin on the menu. We even had a superb beef entree. Excellent wine selection. Server was friendly and proficient. Energetic ambiance and lively bar. Have been here previously and will be back.

We were celebrating a birthday and Max was a great choice. As a younger woman my friend worked in another restaurant with Mr. Rosenthal. The clam chowder is one of the best in the area and there are a variety of menu choices. My friend was late and the waiter extremely considerate. My only suggestion is that you have a few more by the glass wine choices.

It was busy and there were no empty tables. Service was attentive as always but additionally, welcoming and warm. Little minor conversations with staff, one who shared that his mother’s birthday was the same day as my husband’s which we were celebrating, made it feel like they were happy to have us there.

We always have a delicious meal at Max’s, but tonight seemed even more so. I had the brussel and kale salad which had a very light and delicious lemon dressing. Then I had the rainbow trout almondine and it was amazing! My husband loved his plainly prepared scallops as well! My only complaint was we were not offered bread until we’ll after our salads were done and it had to be heated and didn’t come out till we were basically done our entrees.

We had wanted to go to brunch and have been to many of the other Max restaurant group locations but hadn't tried this one before. There was a singer and musician performing which added a nice element to the experience. The menu had some great selections and everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. Nice variety of cocktails suitable for brunch and we topped it off with sharing a dessert for the table. Very attractive restaurant, this service was flawless and food was outstanding. Great experience.

We enjoyed the food - the sole stuffed w seafood was really delicious. The desserts we got as part of the price fixe weren’t as great as the appetizers and mains but they were kind of gilding the lily anyway after our full meals.

We have eaten there many times and the food and service has always been fabulous. Their specials are usually great and it’s nice to have a change from the regular menu. We do not normally sit near the front door because it’s a little noisier… We usually sit in the back by the raw bar. if you’re looking for really good fresh food, this is the place to go..
