Featuring modern renditions of classic American seafood, Max’s Oyster Bar menu has something for everyone. While seafood is the focal point, there are selections for even the most ardent landlubber. Ethnic influences are apparent throughout a menu filled with new interpretations on traditional fare. The raw bar offers an extensive variety of bi-coastal oysters and shellfish.

In it’s freshman year, 1999, Max’s Oyster Bar was awarded “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine. Since then it has won numerous Reader’s Choice Awards, including “Best Seafood Restaurant”. Zagat’s Survey has also given Max’s Oyster Bar an “extraordinary” rating.

Great experience! Made reservation in advance and requested for private seating if possible and they made it happen! Food was great and good service!

Our server Stephani was helpful, accommodating and pleasant. Also, the women at the front desk were friendly and very helpful for us. The lobster appetizer was incredible. Always an excellent experience at Max’s.

Great Raw bar. Everything was fresh, clean, and good. The entrees were generous and flavorful. Would go back again for sure.

Had a great meal at Max’s Oyster Bar. Sat outside on a beautiful night. Both of us had the Lobster bake special. It was excellent. Service was great. Overall a great dinning experience.

When I made the reservation, I added an anniversary to the notes. I requested a booth and we were seated by the kitchen and in the heavy traffic in the back. On a normal evening it probably wouldn’t have bothered me but not last night. The lobster was not cracked even a little and I cut my finger trying to open it. The restaurant is loud and I realize there’s nothing to done, but that’s a fact.

Always excellent food, service was just a tad sketchy, which was unusual. We have eaten there many times and always feel happy that we have.
