Featuring modern renditions of classic American seafood, Max’s Oyster Bar menu has something for everyone. While seafood is the focal point, there are selections for even the most ardent landlubber. Ethnic influences are apparent throughout a menu filled with new interpretations on traditional fare. The raw bar offers an extensive variety of bi-coastal oysters and shellfish.

In it’s freshman year, 1999, Max’s Oyster Bar was awarded “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine. Since then it has won numerous Reader’s Choice Awards, including “Best Seafood Restaurant”. Zagat’s Survey has also given Max’s Oyster Bar an “extraordinary” rating.

Way too noisy just impossible to hear/understand friends with whomwe were trying to enjoy visiting.

Menu and food prep very good. Some options very rare at other restaurants, i.e. Oysters Rockefeller. Seafood is fresh.

A great meal was great service as always, but disappointed they have removed white tablecloths.

Went for 25th anniversary of the restaurant. Enjoyed some throwback items like $6.75 cocktails and 4.50 clam chowder. Also had Alaskan king crab legs and baked stuffed lobster that was awesome. Our server Shelby was excellent.

Food was great. Salmon atop kale and Brussels sprout salad was unusually delicious. Salmon cooked to perfection. Such a perfect summer night for October 22nd. Would prefer some additional wine by the glass options of Pinto Grigios other than what is currently offered.

We had fish and chips and we also had a hot lobster roll. Everything was tasty. Service was really great. Brought a friend I hadn’t seen in a very long time we needed to catch up in a lot of things. No pressure from the waitress whatsoever . Always a great meal and always great service .

Celebrated wife’s birthday. Staff was attentive and engaging. The paella and hot pot entrees did not disappoint. Our young teens were made to feel welcome. Many thanks to Max Oyster Bar.

Great meal as usual. We had delicious fresh oysters, beautifully prepared salmon, trout and crab cakes, and the margaritas were wonderful too.
