Located right in downtown Hartford since 1996, Max Downtown continues to add to all that the city has to offer with its legendary service, food and drink selection. Max Downtown has won a number of awards including Connecticut Magazine's Best for Overall Excellence, Hartford Magazine's Best Power Lunch Spot, Best for Business Entertaining and Best Wine List; has been featured in the Hartford Courant's Great Steaks: The State's Sizzling Best and was rated "Don't Miss" by the New York Times.

With a significant list of vintage and non-vintage wines stored in-house, Max Downtown is excited to additionally offer its stunning wine mezzanine as a focal point. Our selection is bound to have the perfect accompaniment for your occasion whether it’s by the glass or by the bottle.

For more than 40 years, Silverado Vineyards has been making the finest, estate-grown wines in the heart of the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. With over 300 acres planted to vine, Silverado Vineyards spans some of Napa's most celebrated AVA's and they continue to honor their founders' legacy and vision to create the best possible wines. Inspired by the dynamic flavors of Silverado, Executive Chris Sheehan has designed a 4 course tasting menu to highlight and illuminate each expression of Silverado Wine, along with a welcome amuse bouche. Had a wonderful meal here. Received show tickets while visiting from CA, and had dinner there. Was able to make the show on time; server was aware of our time frame and made it work. If we return to Hartford, will definitely dine again!

Great service-its a step above other restaurants in the area. Food always fantastic. It is the place we take customers from out of town and everyone loves it as much as we do.

I have always loved the Max group. Max Downtown is probably my favorite of the restaurants they have.

Food was amazing. Staff was very polite. There’s absolutely nothing to complain about except for the prices but you get what you pay for in this case

This was my second time eating here & it was fabulous!! The atmosphere is beautiful & restaurant noise level was on par. It was busy, but definitely didn't feel crowded or rushed by our server. Great service, generous portions & good quality food. The timing of courses coming out (appetizers, dinner & desert) was perfect. Will definitely be back.

Seated at a wobbly table, 10 minutes before we were greeted, drinks received 25 minutes after being seated, app and salad were good, entrees salty, food was slow coming out of the kitchen, manager nowhere in sight, Pellegrino served warm. This is our go to special occasion restaurant and we were so disappointed.
