Opened in 1991, Max a Mia was named “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine in its first year, and “top-grossing restaurant in its size” by Restaurant Hospitality. The restaurant is now in the good hands of Executive Chef Bob Peterson, who has brought an exciting new energy to the restaurant.

Max A Mia is the quintessential Italian experience in the Greater Hartford area. It also continues to garner awards and accolades. Featuring a traditional Italian menu, it utilizes an authentic brick oven that produces stone pies with unmatched flavor. Traditional veal, pork and pasta dishes, as well as inventive risotto offerings, set the mood for desserts including tiramisu and white chocolate polenta cake.

As always, awesome food! I’ve been going to Max a Mia for 15 years and it’s a family favorite! Unfortunately, last night was the first time that we experienced bad service - the server forgot a lot of things, and then very rarely checked back on us for water, etc… very impersonal… unlike the rest of the excellent server staff! I’m moving from CT and will always have fond memories of my many dinners at Max a Mia!

Max A Mia never disappoints. Delicious food, friendly ambience and thoughtful service. Makayla was so patient with us! Questioned her about EVERYTHING + she answered all with a genuine smile. Needless to say, we’ll be back.

Our family’s favorite restaurant! Food is always amazing, never had a bad meal here. Service is always excellent, too. Great kids menu. We try to come here at least once a month!

Food was great. The service from the waitress was absolutely horrible. It ruined the whole dinner. The manager never really cared and asked to speak to her. I was told she’s too busy. I think we’re done. It’s a shame great place

Lobster month at Max A Mia didn't disappoint and of course the Coconut Cake is always just as good.

Our service was terrific, the cocktails were delicious as was the food. I love the eggplant lasagna and my husband loved the swordfish. The coconut cake is amazingly good, too!

Food hand down fabulous. Sound horrible blaring rock music. Waitress was great. Respected our request for more appropriate Sunday afternoon music. Then atmosphere was as awesome as the food. Like grandma’s Italian home cooking with a zing !! Will go back for sure !!

Every time we come to max it is excellent! This time was no different. Food and service are second to none. Will continue to come back to max for a predictable excellent night out!
