A titan of a space, Rockville was modeled after a hunting lodge yet still manages to feel cozy. A comfortable fireplace fills the space, as well as two wood-fired ovens that churn out thin-crust pizzas in minutes. Really nice meal. They comped us the pizza bread since it was our baby’s first time eating at a Matchbox. Really nice gesture. Service was great. Food was great (got a pizza), and they accommodated my request to sit us out of the way of people since we had a stroller. Really nice experience start to finish.

We made a last minute decision to eat lunch at Matchbox and were able to get a quick reservation. My daughter and I shared the pear pecan salad and a small margarita pizza. The salad was fresh and crisp. The dressing which we ordered on the side and use be putting on fork tines when we took a bite was light and flavorful. The pizza crust was crisp and the sauce was tasty. The basil was fresh. Our server was attentive and friendly. Will be back on occasion when we are down in Rockville.

Very pleasant ambiance dining outside at Matchbox Rockville yesterday. Food was really excellent - shrimp and grits (breakfast menu), salmon salad, and fire and ice pizza. We also had Virgin Marys, which were very good as well. The service was very good, but the server clearly was overworked/covering too many tables. He did try to keep up. All in all we had a great experience!

The ambiance and atmosphere was everything. However the food was lackluster. I did not get my pizza garlic bread with my order of fettuccine Alfredo… and their was something floating in my drink when served. Plates on the table were visibly dirty. I’m actually disappointed.

Matchbox has a nice variety of options for both lunch and brunch. I has a chicken and avocado sandwich, cooked perfectly. One of my friends had chicken and waffles. She said it was the best she's ever had. Another had shrimp and grits and was impressed by the tenderness and texture. The last person had eggs Benedict and was thrilled that it was cooked perfectly.

Server was great. Had a good time, fine food. We put that we had a birthday to celebrate. A treat would have been more than welcome.
