Just a few steps outside of Wiehle-Reston East metro station on the Silver Line, you’ll find matchbox Reston Station welcoming you in for great food, refreshing drinks, and an energetic vibe. Situated in the iconic Google building designed by Helmut Jahn and surrounded by businesses and luxury apartments, matchbox is a place for you to take a break from work, catch up with friends, or enjoy time with family.

All are welcome to gather and join our community. Come and enjoy our 3.6.9 mini burgers, blazing hot pizzas, or any one of our chef-crafted dishes. We have something for everyone. Our casual, warm ambiance and friendly staff will make matchbox feel like your home away from home.

There is a charge for additional pizza toppings.

Our visit was mostly very good, but the restaurant wasn't very busy and we waited a long time for our food. Patty was a great server, and she has no control over the kitchen, of course!

We had reservations for 6pm and didn’t leave until 8. Service was slow to come to our table and once we had someone, another two people came to ask if we’d been helped. They all seemed confused. They ran out of the wine I ordered and instead of asking what I wanted in its place, brought a glass of something else that I wouldn’t have ordered. In a plastic cup. The food was alright but very pricey for what it is. Pizza, salads, one dessert and a few drinks cost us over $150. Just didn’t sit well considering the food was just okay.

This place is missing outnon opportunities. There was a concert outside so the noise level was to be expected. Service was atrocious or non-existent. 2 bartenders outside but only one really doing anything. Inside was pretty empty but they had about 4 people working the bar. No table service outside, no bussing of tables. Doesn’t make sense. Could have done very well if they were prepared for the concert crowd.

Wait staff was totally overwhelmed with the volume of people because of the band. Bartender was rude when I asked to put the hockey playoff game on. Took a very long time to get our table, drinks, and the food. Appetizer came with the entrees. We moved inside to get an after diner drink. No one waited on us so after 20 mins we left. We had to validate our own parking. Many tables and the bar needed bussing.

This is the second time I was at matchbox in Reston, and in both instances the service was nonexistent. For some reason the management could not figure out that when there’s a concert going on at the same time, you need to increase your staffing. As absurd as it sounds, there was one bartender inside and, two bartenders outside - this is during a totally slammed event. To compound the problem there was maybe four servers for the entire restaurant. It was total chaos and bedlam. The hostess was taking orders to go and was in the unenviable position of having to seat people run their checks and try to find seats for people when there was really no wait staff. The net result was we waited for about 30 minutes to order a drink and 45 to be able to order after begging someone to give us menus and take our order. Matchbox sits in the same building as juggernauts Rolls-Royce and Google, but they have not a clue in how to emulate any of these companies in terms of efficiency it takes a really screwed up management system to lose money as people just leave when they could be ordering drinks and food

Hands down a complete failure of a dining experience. Do not go on a Friday night and expect competence. A request to see the manager was not honored. Too many wuslity places to go besides Matchbox. Sad sonce this used to get a good dining experience

Food quality and atmosphere is closer to a cheap diner than an urban restaurant at these prices. Drinks were great, so maybe just go for the bar, not the food. Breakfast food included overcooked potatoes and unbearably salty eggs Benedict, which they did replace with an alternative promptly. Breakfast pizza was OK for pizza, but nothing special. I regretted that choice. Wait staff were responsive and pleasant.

Paul, our waiter, was very good - he was attentive without being overbearing and kept our water filled and asked periodically how we were doing. The food was very good - the three of us shared an appetizer and each had an entree. Our daughter would have preferred dessert too, but her parents were too full. We went at 3:00 on a Sunday which is our usual time for a Sunday meal - restaurants tend to not be crowded from lunch or dinner. It was a great experience.

We were there on Karaoke Thursday night. It was fun, but the service is a little bit slow.
