We’re known for wood-fired pizzas, mini burgers, fresh salads and chef-inspired entrées, like pan-seared sea bass and oven-roasted filet mignon. It’s American bistro fare, crafted from high quality ingredients with a chef at the helm in every kitchen.

Matchbox draws in passersby with oversized windows lining the sidewalk and a front-row view of the blazing pizza oven. Once indoors, the vibe remains warm and residential, as though guests are being welcomed into the Matchbox home. The design achieves this effect through elements like draperies to soften some of the more industrial edges and add texture, open shelving and wine displays, light gray wood wainscotting, and hardwood flooring throughout to lend natural warmth. Hand-painted murals from local artists add further context to the neighborhood, and bring in a touch of personality as well.

Outdoor seating on patios along both Woodmont Avenue and Elm Street offer plentiful people-watching in warmer months.

Was very noisy but service and food were good. Waiter said there are new things coming to the menu soon.

Had a get together with 6 other relatives. Matchbox food was very good. Waiter was excellent.

Love Matchbox and frequently go there. The AC was not working properly so it was too hot. Hopefully they got that fixed.

Some service was excellent. Some was HORRIBLE. Overall experience was below par because the poor service dimmed the mood. The food was good but very pricey. Might go again but not top of our list.

Had the seared tuna salad. Tuna was extremely spicy and rubbery could not eat. Asked for dressing on the side- dressing came on it. Was not greeted by host or said good bye. Slow to be served initially. We used to eat at Matchbox in DC ALLL the time. Food has gone downhill while prices have increased.

I ordered an item from the menu but what was brought to me was cooked completely differently from what the menu described. I asked to switch to another item, but when the bill came, both were charged. I was with a few friends, and two other orders were also incorrectly charged. We had to wait half an hour to get the bill corrected. The restaurant was very noisy. It was not possible to have a conversation with a few people around the table. So, over all it was not what I had expected. This location of Matchbox also has lower rating than other locations.
