    We celebrated my partner 27th birthday and we had the best time! We asked for a ocean front table and were accommodated after waiting 10mins

    The food and service have both slipped over the past few years. I am not sure if I will ever go back. The setting is very nice and they pour perfect cocktails as they always have, but outside of the wonderful pretzel bread the food is not that great given the price. We started with Shrimp Cocktail. They were giant prawns elegantly presented, although I could skip the liquid nitrogen. They were terrible, not crisp at all and lacking in flavor. The bone in filet was cooked a little less than the medium rare I ordered and while incredibly tender I can't say it was tremendously flavorable, My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass which was quite good.

    Delicious food and drinks. Had asked for a window table to celebrate our anniversary but unfortunately didn’t get one. The music seemed a tad loud - other than that all was lovely.

    We had a Sunday night 7:30 reservation. We arrived and checked in at 7:15. The receptionist asked us to wait in the bar since we were early, which we did. At 7:50 I checked on our reservation and they admitted they overlooked us and said they would seat us now. The place was very crowded and people were getting seated in some chaos. It’s fairly typical of Mastro’s to overbook. I had asked for a window table at time of reservation as it was an anniversary and who knows if we had been seated on time if we could have had what was requested. We ended up in the overflow room which is not as nice. Service after that was fine much better than Mastros Thousand Oaks, that place is a disaster which I will never go again or refer people to. All in all, Mastros ocesn club is a great place if you can find a time that’s less crowded, maybe a week night, never in weekends.

    I have been to this Mastro's many times before. This time I was celebrating a birthday and it was a Sunday evening. It was extremely crowded and very noisy. We could not have a conversation because of the high level of noise. It did distract from an enjoyable meal. In fact, when we left, there was a long line of patrons waiting to get in. I have never seen it so busy before. Our meal seemed rushed with the servers running from here to there. Even our dinner did not seem the same as times before. We ordered our steak medium but it seemed to be well done. When questioned, we were told that it was medium. At the prices they charge, it seems to me that the steak should be as requested. They did not replace it. This visit was disappointing. If I return, it will not be on a weekend or holiday.
