The food is always excellent and the value is good. What is missing is excitement of any kind, needs ambience for sure. It is not a place where you would eat and want to move to the bar to continue your night.

Overall the food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. The one miss was that the person that ordered the lobster did NOT need/want to see it before it was cooked, or have it's head staring at her from the plate as she ate.

It's one of my favorite Greek restaurants in Metro Detroit. I like that I can order fresh fish.

Kitchen staff and excellent quality of its output is not matched by the front of the house. Our waitress, while personable (in contrast to the hostess who couldn't muster a smile) did not understand that you serve lime as a matter of course with gin/vodka/tonic, complained about having to go back to the kitchen for parmesan cheese and gave our check to another table, which paid it unwittingly. Our consideration was to pay their check, which was a few dollars less than ours. To her credit, the waitress was hard-working, personable and very responsive. Possible blame: A lack of training.

We have had multiple meals at Mare and have loved every one. First, the prices are very reasonable and the preparations are imaginative and well-prepared. The service is impeccable as well. The pizzas are fabulous- crispy and flavorful crusts and wonderful toppings. I've had the branzino, Dover Sole, Salmon and Orata in various ways and have never been disappointed. The octopus and branzino ceviche are wonderful as well as the shrimp and meatball appetizers. The romaine salad and the tomato and burrata salad are delicious as well. Although the weekends are busy, the weeknights are quiet and I would hate to see this amazing restaurant close, so come on....step up and try it. I
