We found Marcos spontaneously after wondering onto Rye high street looking for somewhere to have a our first date night! The atmosphere and set up was lovely. They were busy but very accommodating considering we hadn’t booked! We have since returned as the food, service & wine had us won over on the first visit!

Went for wedding anniversary, had hummus and pulled brisket and the garlic dish for starters both of which were tasty, could have done with more pitta. Mains had the lamb kebabs which were perfect and the gyros taco, which would definitely have to have again. Ordered chips to go with kebab as doesn't come with rice, which were well seasoned. Staff were lovely, but lacked a bit of atmosphere as a bit empty but enjoyed the setting. Nice cocktails. Would return. Shame you can only book by giving credit card details as was reluctant to hand over details but really wanted to go there, maybe reason for being quiet or it is generally not busy for Sunday lunch.

Really enjoyed the tortellini with pulled brisket. Our table by the window was great.

Food was grand as was the service. A little pricey by the time you order a separate side dish but over all a marvelous experience.

This could be a great little restaurant. However, it’s currently bang average at best. Prices don’t reflect the quality or quantity of the food or drinks that are served and the service was also quite poor. Get rid of the service charge. There is no incentive for staff to be attentive if they feel they’re getting guaranteed tip. To summarise I feel this place is trying to be a lavish fine dining hotspot, but it’s fallen well short of the mark. You will leave this place hungry with sore wallet.

A simply brilliant evening out yesterday at Marco’s. The initial warm welcome, then seating at a lovely table close to the back full length windows. The stone walls and stained glass windows of the monastery next door, lit up with changing light colours - wow. The ambience was lovely, soft jazz-style music, tables not too close together so there was just a nice buzz of chat. The staff were simply top-class, friendly, helpful and well informed about the food and wine options. But the food - oh my, the food was just fabulous. Three of us shared starters meze-style - halloumi, tzatziki and chorizo - all so very fresh and tasty. Main courses of sea bass, kleftedes and lamb skewers were just as good, it had us sharing again ! All in all a simply marvellous evening out. There may be a better restaurant in Rye or East Sussex than Marco’s……but I seriously doubt it !
