I visited Marcello's Coal Fired Restaurant & Pizza on June 24, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. While the restaurant's appearance was inviting, my overall experience was marred by several issues. The noise level was excessively high, making it challenging to engage in conversation with my table companions. This was frustrating and set a negative tone for the evening. The food was mediocre, with the calamari appetizer being a significant letdown. It was overfried and dry, which was disappointing given my expectations. To make matters worse, the food took an inordinate amount of time to arrive at our table. This slow service, combined with the subpar food quality, left a bad impression on my first visit. Unfortunately, my experience did not encourage me to return to [Restaurant Name]. I hope the restaurant will address these issues to improve the dining experience for future customers.

My friends and I try to get together at least once a month for dinner. We tried this after a random search led us to it, we wanted something new. The food was amazing, the staff amazing the town was very cool. Parking was a little challenging, we had to circle the block a couple of times and ended up parking up the street. This is one of the best Italian places we have been to in a long time. An excellent variety of dishes, wines and beers. We will definitely be back as it is now a part of our standard rotation.

Great food and service for our lunch. 6 “older” people, and everyone was happy with their food/drink choices. They sat us in a separate room that was not crowded and we were able to have nice conversation..which is getting harder to do in many other places now.

Understandable that after Covid restaurants needed to up their prices to keep with the cost of food, which went up. I have been going to Marcellos since we moved into the area back in the early 2000’s and before they did their major renovations. The food quality has really gone down. They are pushing cocktails and wine and not really offering much in the beer department, which they used to have tons of bottled beers and local NJ beer options . Cocktails are $15 a pop and watered down. (They look beautiful though) . The food portions have gotten smaller and the prices higher . I ordered a pizza that had sausage and peppers for $19. When it came to the table it looked like a flat bread… rectangle and small. Personal pizza for $19 appetizer size…. The menu did not indicate that’s we thought it would be a round pizza , shareable . Several months ago I went to dinner with friends here and our main meals ( we ordered pasta dishes each) … at $26 + depending on what we got I have to say the food was mediocre. For that price… I think I am going to hop to Toscanos. Too bad. A little loud in there … so not for families or for dates that actually want to chat together.

This was our first time dining at Marcellos. It came highly recommended by our daughters. It did not disappoint. We enjoyed our lunch and specialty drinks. We had an awesome waiter. I wish I remembered his name. He was so attentive and chatted with us every now and then. We will be returning soon
