Born in the City of Delights, or more commonly known as Palermo, Italy, Marcello fell in love with cooking from a very young age. Influenced by the crystal clear water, the flavours of the culturally rich air and a little encouragement from his mother, he went on to receive professional training from Milan and owned a restaurant on the Adriatic Sea. Now for over 20 years he's brought his joy of Southern Italian cooking to Vancouver. Marcello's is a neighbourhood gem on Commercial Drive in the heart of little Italy set for any occasion.

Our server was great and very attentive. She is friendly and helped us with our food orders. The ambience is very good. Me and my girlfriends had a great time. We enjoyed our food and the service is exceptional. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and colleagues.

Had the most odd experience last night. Our server was alright - some what absent throughout the night though. After our dinner was cleared the manager (I assume) came up and asked us if our server told us the special for the night so obvious about wanting to get dirt on her. I don’t know what was going on behind the scenes and why there was so much drama but after working in the service industry prior I wonder how toxic the work environment is there and if the server was absent because she was upset by how hard the manager was on her. Either way they both should find alternative places to work as they both seemed miserable there. Food was excellent though so very sad all the drama took away from it and could have so easily been a lovely evening….

Upon entering the restaurant, it already shows some culture and quality. The reception was very nice and accommodating and the reserved table was ready for us. It was quite crowded and very loud and with the music going in the background it was very difficult to hear my partner speak. I asked for the music to be turned down a bit, but that was never accommodated. The server got our selections, correct but I had asked to have the Campari spritz first and then after we finish the spritz to have our food. However, we had the < 1.5 oz spritz and the food arrive all at the same time, and we were not ready to eat yet. The calamari plate was bountiful, however, found the two focaccia wedges to be very minimal. The salmon was delightful, however my partner found the portion to be less than what she expected for the price. The salad had no salad as it was just 3 halves of beef steak tomatoes with an extremely small amount of cheese and the condiment tasted a bit watery. The white bottle of wine for $50 was too pricey for its quality. The raspberry gelato was excellent. Lastly, I ordered a double espresso lungo but it was a single short shot. I could not make contact with our server as the restaurant was very full and understaffed. For $200 plus tip for two people was pricey for the amount of food we consumed. **1/2 stars

We haven’t been to Marcello’s for several years but we had a delicious dinner and a fantastic time!! Everything was excellent!!
