Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Lighthouses and other nautical décor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley.

Food is very good and affordable. Service was a little slow. We were seated in the bar area next time I will ask to be seated on the other side just because it was a little loud. Overall is affordable nice place to have dinner.

We were seated under an airconditioning fan, blowing very cold air. There were plenty of seats in a sun room which was pleasantly warm. We didn't know that until we were nearly finished. The service was quite slow and my shrimp scampi did not have enough garlic.

The atmosphere was very nice. The menu selection was huge with lots of good seafood and non-seafood selections. Our appetizers and food arrived in very good time and it was all hot and very tasty. This was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back to try more of the wonderful selections.

My first time eating at this establishment. My guest party and I had a great time! We enjoyed our drinks, appetizers and entrees. We will dine here again.

Always a great time at the Chowder House! We visited on both Monday and Thursday this week because we love it so much.

Excellent place worth visiting. The lower mark on service was simply due to some weirdness that transpired after sitting down and eating to wait about 10 minutes to have anybody come over and instead of having the waiter that we should’ve had having someone else volunteer. But outside of that, everything else was excellent.
