Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Lighthouses and other nautical décor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley.

Dinner was very good. It was my 60th bday and I wanted to treat myself to lobster. We ordered the live lobster special. It was very good but the portion was smaller then I expected

Just visited for the first time and had a great experience. Lobster bisque was fantastic, a stand out. Great value for your money, which in this day and age is hard to find.

The food was excellent and not overly expensive. The service by gabby was efficient and friendly. It was a little noisy for an anniversary dinner.

The food was excellent although it seemed to be under heat lamps lingering than it should have been. This was a result of the poor service.

Service was slow and food delivered not hot. Last couple of visits here have been disappointing.

Love this place so much. We routinely visit the Chowder House - trivia on Thursdays, Sunday football, or just visiting for a special night out. The prices are exceptionally good for the value, quality, and portion size. The reward program is amazing - definitely one of the best restaurant reward programs that we’ve signed up for over the years. The bar waitstaff is hit or miss (they’ve gone through a rotation of staff), but the service is always top notch when you sit at a table.
