Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Lighthouses and other nautical décor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley.

    Weekly visit; fish was great (Tilapia), crab-mushroom soup was very good, shrimp were unusually bland (consensus of both of us) and warmer than usual, service was very good. We enjoy our weekly (Tuesday) routine and we’re both somewhat disappointed bybtge shrimp this week.

    This is our family’s third visit. Absolutely love the food -oysters and lobster pierogies this visit. The service is just wonderful! All specials explained in detail. Can’t wait to go back!!

    First time will definitely go back big menu service was great explained everything since first time we had the coconut shrimp which was very good.

    We both had good meals. My hubby had a salad and clams and linguini with red sauce and I had garlic shrimp scampi over linguini. Both were very good. Our server was a young man who was terrific....attentive and very pleasant . I gave it 4 stars for 2 reasons....they are still using plastic straws despite them being illegal to use (unless requested by the customer) and it was absolutely FREEZING. The couple next to us shared that their server had asked if they were cold and they replied "Yes it feels like I've icicles on my back." My husband went to the manager and she did turn it down. Overall, the meals were reasonably priced and our server was a terrific young man.

    4 of us came for dinner. It was busy but svc was fairly fast. The Lobster bisque was delicious. Lobster scallops augratin was delicious and firecracker shrimp very good. Our friends seemed happy with their meal. My Lobster tail was a little tough the baked potato tasted strange and I never got my coleslaw. My ice tea was watery. I had hoped for raspberry tea, but you don't have that. I was a little unhappy with the meal.

    We enjoyed our visit yesterday even though they were not fully staffed the staff that were there made sure that the customers were taken care of. Our waitress was busy helping others someone at our table needed a refill another waitress realizing she was busy accommodated us with it.

    I made a reservation here for a party of four and when we arrived, we were taken to a table with no place settings and one chair. The place was so noisy and the people next to us were rude saying it’s first come first serve because they obviously took the chairs that belong to our table. It took over an hour before we got our drinks. The service was extremely slow. They are obviously understaffed. The food was pretty good. I’m not sure if this is the norm as this is the first time I’ve been here. I may try it again hoping the service will improve.

    Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Peel and eat shrimp, clams on the half shell and crab legs were all plentiful and warm. Great job to all.

    Found Marblehead Chowder house on google because I was in the area. Server was excellent although I can’t remember her name. She was very attentive and efficient. Restaurant ambience was very nice with nautical decor. Had a beautiful fireplace. Food was very good and very reasonably priced. Appetizers and seafood entrees were good portions and very fresh.
