Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Lighthouses and other nautical décor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley.

Our waitress Melissa was great. Very attentive and friendly, knowledgable and efficient. Equally as friendly and nice was the manager Danielle who came around to make sure everyone was pleased with the service and food. Keep the good work, we have loving you in the area!

I was looking forward to the fried clams with the bellies that we received a communication about earlier in the week. It was disappointing. The clams were small and did not taste all that fresh. On top of that the “clam basket” would be better described as a basket of French fries with a side of clams. Not a good value for close to $30.00. We really want to like this place but they are not helping.

The food was good but the service was extremely slow. For a party of 8, we spent almost 2 hours there and the majority of that time was spent waiting on drinks, appetizers and entrees.

Dinner was very good, but I forgot to print my brother’s birthday coupon missed out on the offer.

$20 for a lunch entree of stuffed shrimp. Shrimp were small with a dallop of crab meat - very skimpy portion - not filling at all.

Entrees were great as was the service. Excellent halibut and wife loved king crab legs. Heated butter was nice touch. Regular salad was ok. Rolls would have been better if heated or fresher. Definitely be back
